Technically, scoring goals is still our biggest problem. We're eleventh in the league in terms of goals scored. Lack of movement from Icardi and the predictability of our wingers cause this.

I don't think we're ever going to score a lot of goals with Icardi as our main striker. Every season he's been at the club our goal-scoring record has been abysmal. I don't see that changing. Although, he was very impressive against Juventus

Before the season I kept hearing how he was going to score 30 goals with good support, and he very well might. The question in my mind was whether as a side we can score enough goals with him as our main striker, because I feel he mostly disrupts our play with his lack of movement and effort. I'm not saying I would prefer Eder though.

How the fuck do you completely dominate up til 1-0 and then fuck literally everything up :palm:

THIS!!! What is wrong with this team????

Did you notice how they dominated posession with few chances up until Cagliari had that goal called for offside. Then the team flipped a switch and went into killer mode and scored a fucking goal. And what happens right after that?? They fucking flip their loser switch back on and CAGLIARI STARTED PRESSING US AT HOME FOR LIKE 15 MINUTES STRAIGHT! It's like this fucking team doesn't actually believe in winning a match, and as soon as they go ahead in a game, they shit their pants and go into let's-not-lose mode rather than let's-keep-winning mode. That's why it's so fucking rare to see Inter win by more than a one-goal differential.

This loss was solely on FDB. He needs to find a solution.

When your tactics don't work players are bound to make mistakes and we are going to concede. His tactics worked for the first half but then the second half it fell apart.

icardi wrote a bioraphy. apparently, he wrote some lies about a beef he had with a couple of curva nord ultras and they got mad at him. zanetti said this is not an acceptable behaviour and icardi might be strippen off of the captaincy. icardi was utterly shit today, he didn't look concentrated. altobelli said it makes no sense to write a biography at 23 to begin with. zanetti confirmed there might be consequences (probably again referring to armband)

And FdB fucked up the substitutions really bad today. Banega was our best player today (along with Joao Mario) and was the key piece holding everything together. As soon as we took the lead he got scared and replaced Banega with Gnoukouri to preserve a 1-0 lead with 30 whole minutes left to play. Gnoukouri wasn't bad but he really didn't make much of an impact on the game afterwards, and Cagliari went on to score 10 minutes after he came on, or in other words, 10 minutes after Banega went off.

And another thing that pissed me off is that management tried so hard to get Gabigol, promising him all of these things about how he is the future project of the team, and they want to build around him. And here we are with 10 total games played in the season and all he's seen of the pitch is 16 minutes against Bologna. Today Icardi had a multitude of chances and he missed all of them, it wasn't his day. He should have been replaced, and it shouldn't have been Eder to come on the pitch. Eder did nothing when he came on.

So yeah, FdB really fucked this one up with his substitutions today.

Agreed. Despite his impressive goal ratio he does not do enough and I think that has reflected on the team's position in the last few seasons. We need someone who can contribute to the general play for every game. For every game Icardi will score, he will have another where he just has a stinker and it is like playing with 10 men.

Because while sometimes the lack of team creativity is to blame I always feel to be a top team you need a striker who can do everything. Run the channels, dribble past players etc.

Next week he probably will come back and make everyone think again but when he is bad he is bad.

Agreed. He should have brought off Icardi earlier and what the fuck was that Gnoukouri sub when he had brozo on the bench and finally our fucking embarassment of a defence let us down hugely today. We keep dropping points against these small teams and if we dont turn it around starting from our next match then I fear this seadon is already done.

What the fuck?! Loss again.

We will never make the CL when we lose games against Cagliari AT HOME. Meazza should be our fortress where no one leaves with more than 1 point ever. Now it's a fucking circus.

Cagliari's coach after the match

“I chose to use Melchiorri today rather than Marco Borriello because I knew Inter would push forward more than usual,” the tactician told Sky Sport Italia.

“They’d push up the full-backs, use Joao Mario as a trequartista, so we found space to go on the counter and in these situations Federico is a master.

“In the first half we were too deep, but saw a different Cagliari after the break. We worked on the Inter defects and studied them carefully. It is a team with a great deal of quality, a huge amount of quality, but no balance, so we worked on that.

“Davide Di Gennaro played as a trequartista, where he gives his best and doesn’t get bogged down by having to cover the defence. He was involved in all our positive moves.”

Banega started making too many mistakes and it was deserved substitution but Brozovic should have come in not Gnoukuri.
I'm worried about the way De Boer's approach to the game. We were too predictable in attack - distributing the ball to Perisic or Canredva and they just cross inside the penalty area, where we have Icardi and maximum one more player and they were easy pray for 6-7 defenders of the opposition. Medel was too static and he wasn't involved in our attacks and we were struggling with only Banega and Mario to handle our game. When the opposition defends with 9-10 players we need to involve Medel and our central defenders in attack to open the space for our other attacking players. Also Pericis and Candreva were too wide to do something more than to cross the ball. We lack plan "B", when this "crossing" doesn't work.

What pisses me off the most about this match is that it was basically a copypaste of previous matches against smaller teams, we even managed to lose and at home. So, after some weeks and a pause, no real progress. We have to be patient with de Boer but I want to see immediate improvements AT LEAST in attitude and concentration.

Mancini was right about one thing if his answer to Napoli's offer really was "what are you guys waiting for".

if...we will probably never know, unless Mancini later on somewhere explains it in his autobiography...or in Icardi's 2435646435th edition at 33 years old:trolldad:
