:thumbsdo: I'd much rather have an Inter victory over glory in defeat. They might have went down fighting but they still lost. This has never made sense to me in a game where winning is the ultimate goal.

I don't think he's saying he'd rather lose playing hard, then to win playing lazily. Of course everyone would rather win. The point is, that it's a lot easier to accept defeat knowing that your players gave it their all and just came up against a better team, then to lose due to the players looking disinterested or lazy.

I can tell you one thing, and to that I agree completely.

There is no way we will be able to dominate the game etc.

No matter what Barca WILL have the possesion on their side.

This is why you and I can never discuss things properly: We never seem to agree what we're arguing about untill after a couple of long posts.:p Glad to see you agree though.

So it's not about the possesion Adam ;)

It's about: what Barcelona can DO with that posession, and what we will ALLOW them to do with that possesion.

So it's the combination of: How good Barca will play (offensively), and how well WE will play (deffensively).

Well...yeah.

The other question is us scoring goals, which is all about our players doing most of the chances we will get. Unfortunetly, this game will depend A LOT (in this aspect) on Wes alone. He is the key as he is the link up player, who HAS to play good game, and who will be able to direct the counter attacks.

Yes, him and Milito will be key to our offense. Hopefully Eto'o will have a point to prove aswell.

Hoofing the ball direcly from deffense to either Milito/Sammy, I give very small chance of succeding.
So... deffensively it will depend A LOT on the trio - Lucio/Walter/Cuchu, and offensively on Wes.

Again, we are in agreement.;)

Iniesta, Messi,
Can't really wait. It will be a hard game for both teams. Hopefully it will be entertaining and of course FCB win. But I'd be happy with a score draw as well. :D

I want Pandev to start ahead of Balotelli. I've mentioned this in an earlier post but keeping Barcelona's wing-backs at bay will be a key to neutralize their attacking force. And it's no secret that any player will do more defensive work than Balotelli. Maybe if by the 60th or 70th we still haven't scored, we can take some risk and put Mario in.

I don't want a 4-3-1-2 because even though we overcrowd the midfield, it's not as if they will have a clue on how to stop Barca's passing game. Even if you put 0-10-0, Barca's midfield will still probably slice through it. Plus, a narrow midfield will give too much time & space for Alves & Abidal.

Also, 4-2-1-3 has been our recipe in the CL, and also in the league lately. There is no point in changing them.

FORZA!

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SEMI-FINAL AT SAN SIRO: A DATE WITH HISTORY

Mou: "I want everything." Balotelli or Milito is a doubt, the Argentine is a favorite. Barcelona with Ibra.

TECHNICAL ANALYSIS: KEY POINTS FOR THE GAME

Sacchi: "Take the game into your own hand and stop Barca at ball possession."
The recipe from Jimenez: "To exhaust them with stifling pressing. With Sevilla, I eliminated them."
Sneijder unveils plans: "We wil play without fear. Messi is the strongest, but he will understand who takes command at the San Siro."

THE NIGHT OF INTER

Messi at the San Siro.
Mou, here to serve a masterpiece.
The first objective is not to allow goals, and avoid giving them space: even a 0-0 would be fine. But with Sneijder and Balotelli, the feat is possible.

Milan - Intoxicated by the magic of Messi and the debates about how to stop the Argentine in particular or Barca in general, we are forgetting that on the field there will also be Inter. Or at least Inter should be, since the last time they didn't arrive at the Camp Nou according to the honest Moratti, and before that game, he was satisfied with a 0-0 draw at the San Siro which was the inaugural game of this adventure in the Champions League.

Self-esteem Inter of today, however, have grown a lot comparing to the one in fall in the group stage. The qualifying game at Stamford Bridge, against Chelsea, is the key that has finally opened their self-esteems, rejected the old inferior image. For the truth, the balance of prognostication, at purely technical level, it still hangs from the part of Barca, even if this time, Zanetti and company can hope to qualify for the final, seven years after the last attempt against Milan.

The draws In 2003, with Cuper on the bench, Inter came out with two draws. And with two draws, one year ago, Barcelona eliminated Chelsea and flying toward their third cup in history. Mourinho, who has studied all these things, knows that it is not ashamed to repeat the 0-0 seven months and seven seasons ago, at the San Siro and at Camp Nou Inter certainly don't want to allow two goals like they did in November. In theory the plan is unexceptionable, because in this case it will take intelligent counterattacks. Also as important is not to leave them space especially Messi but also to Pedro and Ibrahimovic. The key, however, is not to overdo the calculations, because the primary goal here is not to allow goals, Inter and its men are aiming for the sixth consecutive victory in Europe. With one more day off and over a thousand miles less could give them a welcome help. A help that was provided to Inter, and it could make it a shiny star.

The choices And here we enter the field, always mysterious are the choices by Mourinho, who seems willing to cover the defense with only Cambiasso who will be playing behind the quartet of Maicon, Motta, Sneijder and Eto'o, with Milito as the central forward. The idea here is to broaden the field, using the wings, and the likes of Maicon will be pushing forward a little less than usual because he will be few meters ahead. The same also applies for Eto'o, who will have to make many sacrifices on the left. The man that can make a difference is still Sneijder, with his acceleration and passes. Don't forget about Balotelli.

Top secret Many indications in training that lead to the decisions of Mou such as dense midfield, Maicon as attacking winger. Ten starting spots seem already allocated, while in front the two candidates are Diego Milito and Mario Balotelli. The first one is the favorite, Mourinho considers him as the only durable starter, but there is no doubt that the Argentine has shown in recent matches (one goal in five games) some difficulties physically. That's why here comes the candidacy of Mario Balotelli, surely the freshest among the strikers, probably the one that can adapt to the system of lone striker the best.

Lets just poison Xavi, Iniesta and Messi before the game.

As for tactics, I don't know about this 4141 everyone is talking about. And most likely, that is not the way we will line up. The 14 midfield would have Cuchu-Eto'o, Sneijder, XX, Maicon as per the reports. The XX better be Motta or Muntari and not Zanetti. We can play Zanetti at RB.

I am sure a team with Chivu, Lucio, Samuel, Cordoba, Maicon and Zanetti in the lineup will not win a game.

My understanding is that Jose intends to bond the players by having them match Barca by going coach as well, to Camp Nou
:p

Yeah the ''Icelandic volcanoes and European travel versus us '' mentality:p

i like the 4-2-1-3 as well..this is how i would like to see it

---------------J. Cesar-----------
Zanetti----Lucio----Samuel----Chivu
----Maicon-----------Cambiasso----
-------------Sneijder-------------
--Balotelli----------------Eto'o---
-------------Milito-----------------

Maicon and Zanetti could swap too.....and maybe use Balotelli as a sub and Pandev starting, but for some reason i have a good feeling about Supermario, after apologizing to Mou maybe he will score a goal and jump on the Special One a la Ibrahimovic to Roberto Mancini :boogy:

Balotelli is a weird case. This kind of people can give their all and go beyond their usual behaviour, for the ONE game that is hugely important. If Mourinho asks him he may actually press and defend for this ONE game. He's not gonna do it regularly, but just for once, given that the whole world is watching, he may be motivated to give his all. He actually should be motivated to give his all. You don't know when (or even if) you'll play CL semi-finals again.

Iniesta is out of game for both legs, he is injured ;)
