07/07/11 - Maksym Koval

Team: Dynamo Kyiv (Ukraine)
Shirt Number: 35
Nationality: Ukraine
Position: Goalkeeper
Secondary: N/A
Age: 18
Height: 1.89 m / 6.2 ft
Weight: 86 kg / 189 lbs

Report: Ukraine's Next Goalkeeping Sensation

Dynamo Kyiv keeper Maksym Koval (18) had been marked for some time now as being one of the most promising goalkeepers in the Ukraine.

Koval has played for all national youth levels, highly impressing for the Ukrainian Under-17 squad. In June 2011 he was called up to play for the full senior squad, participating as third keeper in two friendly matches against Uzbekistan and France.

The 1.89m-tall is often compared to Russia's sensational goalie Igor Akinfeev, with both keepers fairly similar in their playing style, having a similar body structure and also holding excellent reflexes and aerial abilities.

Background and History

Koval is a product of Metalurg Zaporizhya youth academy, playing two years of senior level before heading out to Dynamo Kyiv , including a fantastic 2009/10 season as the first keeper of the team, playing 22 matches and conceding 26 goals.

Koval was already playing in the Ukrainian Premier League when he was 16, making him a very mature player for his age.

Last season Dynamo Kyiv acquired his services for an estimated transfer fee of €3M, signing him until the summer of 2015, with Koval having an immediate impact on the team in his debut season.

Koval surprisingly established himself as the first choice keeper for Dynamo, due to the absence of 36-year-old Ukranian international and Dynamo Kyiv captain Oleksandr Shovkovskiy, playing in 17 matches in all competitions for Dynamo last season, until naturally losing his place in the line-up when Shovkovskiy returned from his injury.

Dynamo Kyiv currently hold an impressive arsenal of keepers with veteran Shovkovskiy still holding onto the starting role, the experienced Stanislav Bohush (27) and Denys Boyko and Artem Kychak, who are both considered to be promising young talents.

Strengths

Koval's strongest quality is his great reflexes, which is why he is also good in penalties and one-on-one situations, holding excellent aerial abilities.

For a goalkeeper controlling the ball with your feet is a serious advantage and Koval's foot playing ability is outstanding, able to help out his defenders under the pressing of the opponent.

Weaknesses

Koval is not such a tall goalkeeper, but he is very good in the air and is able to position himself well inside the box, although he may sometime hesitate too long to come out of the goal-line for high balls.

Mentality

Although very young, as already mentioned, Koval has received much experience so far in his short career at both domestic and international level, including appearances in both Champions League and Europa League, so he is a fairly mature and confident player.

Additionally, he is described as a cool-headed player, who has the right combination between intelligence and natural instincts.

Current Situation

In the beginning of the season, just after his move to Dynamo Kyiv , Koval was linked to Arsenal in their endless frenzy goalkeeping search for a new talent at the post. With Tottenham and Bordeaux targeting Koval around the same time, but no true offers ever came through.

Should he stay at Dynamo, Koval should become the main replacement for Shovkovskiy after he retires (which may not be so soon) and being an 18 year old keeper, he should still have the patience to wait it out.

Although, in the case of receiving very few minutes of playing time on the pitch and with several more talented goalkeepers at Dynamo's dispense, a move out is certainly not out of the question, especially with another top-quality keeper currently linked with a move to Dynamo.

Dynamo head coach Yuri Syomin has been reportedly looking to sign a former player of his, Brazilian goalkeeper Mainato Guilherme, who has played under Syomin at Lokomotiv Moskva- a move which could change the whole picture for Kolav.

To sign Koval, the pleasure may cost a club an estimated value of around €4M, a price which can gradually go down in the case of being sidelined in the coming season.

07/14/11 - Ariel Borysiuk

Team: Legia Warsaw (Poland)
Shirt Number: 16
Nationality: Poland
Position: Defensive Midfielder
Secondary: Center Midfielder
Age: 20
Height: 1.78 m / 5.84 ft
Weight: 70 kg / 154 lbs

Report: The Polish Midfielder on Udinese's Wishlist

20-year-old Polish starlet, Ariel Borysiuk , holds 73 appearances for Legia Warsaw since 2007, playing for the senior team since the age of 16.

Ariel is the second youngest footballer ever to play for Legia and the youngest player to score a goal at senior level for the club, scoring his first goal just two months after his arrival, adding up to a total of three goals at Legia until now.

Ariel represented Poland at all youth levels and was recently capped for the senior squad, holding three appearances in friendly matches.

Background and History

Borysiuk had begun his career at TOP 54 Biala Podlaska youth system marked as being a phenomenal young talent, before signing with Legia until the summer of 2013.

At Legia he gradually became a key member of the team's rotational line-up, mostly starting in the opening eleven, but he may also sometimes come off the bench.

Strengths

The 1.78m-tall is an excellent defensive midfielder, described as a box-to-box midfielder, who holds a great ability to direct long passes down the field or out wide, providing amazing assists from long range.

Borysiuk strongest assent is his great vision of the field and high technical abilities, also possessing great speed and excellent stamina. Borysiuk can also be used as a central midfielder.

Weaknesses

As for most 20-year-old's, experience is a key factor in order to make a successful transition to higher league, but with Borysiuk holding 73 senior appearances in the Polish Ekstraklasa- he has a good starting point. Although, he has never proved himself as a regular player on a team throughout a whole season.

Additionally, Borysiuk can also work on his heading and physical abilities, in order to stand his ground at the defensive end against stronger opponents.

Mentality

Borysiuk is fairly mature for his age, having a great perspective on his abilities and is a hard worker. Only time will tell if his self-awareness will bring him the confidence he needs in order to break through at European level.

Current Situation

Udinese Calcio have been monitoring Borysiuk's development for some time now, scouting him at both domestic and international level, mostly while playing for the Under-21's.

Recently an official statement was made by the Italian side that they are interested in signing Borysiuk this summer, while Legia have made it clear that their asking price would be no less than two million euros.

It is currently predicted that Borysiuk's transfer is almost certain to take place in the coming week, but it also depends on the finalization of Alexis Sanchez's transfer, much like other transfers which Udinese have lined-up, but are awaiting the final verdict on Sanchez before moving on to other payers.

Udinese are desperate to sign a solid central midfielder after the departure of Gokhan Inler to Napoli and will probably also sign another striker to replace Sanchez.

Should Borysiuk complete his transfer, he will join a long list of young talents which have been exported out of Poland: with names such as Mateusz Klich (Wolfsburg), Adrian Mierzejewski (Trabzonspor), Bartosz Salamon (Brescia), Artur Sobiech (Hannover 96), Robert Lewandowski (Dortmund) and the list goes on.

07/21/11 - Mikael Dyrestam

Team: IFK Goteborg (Sweden)
Shirt Number: 24
Nationality: Sweden
Position: Left Defender
Secondary: Center Defender, Right Defender
Age: 19
Height: 1.85 m / 6.07 ft
Weight: 75 kg / 165 lbs

Report: IFK Goteborg's Outstanding Left-Back

19-year-old Swedish left-back of Guinean descent, Mikael Dyrestam nicknamed "Dyre", has opened a fantastic season in Sweden this year.

Dyre has returned from an unfortunate 35-week injury, after suffering from a crucial ligament injury in his right knee, which occurred in a friendly match against Aalborg in last February and kept him out throughout the whole 2010 season.

Dyre returned officially in June and has appeared eight times in the team's starting line-up, playing the full 90 minutes of each match and providing one goal and two assists so far in the season.

The Swedish starlet has also appeared five times for Sweden's Under-19 squad and was also capped once for the Under-21's.

Background and History

Mikael, who has a Swedish father and a Guinean mother, was promoted to Goteborg's senior squad in 2009, playing 17 matches in his debut season.

The youngster had actually begun his professional career at Goteborg as a central defender, but was switched to participate as a left defender due to his on-going injuries and he can also be used as a right-back.

In the beginning of the season Goteborg manager, Jonas Olsson, said that he plans to use Dyrestam as a central defender from now on. But despite the club's recent selling of star centre-back Ragnar Sigurdsson to FC Kobenhavn, he is still playing on the left side.

Strengths

The 1.85m-tall is a calm, all-rounded player, holding great dribbling skills, as well as a good passing game, with excellent crosses out wide.

Dyre is also very good in the air and although he might seem to be quite slow, he is actually very fast for his size.

An attacking minded defender, who can cause a lot of damage on his opponents, especially with his dangerous crosses inside the box. Dyre is a player who can hold is ground in the defensive end and can position himself well, which is also why he will rarely need to slide to retrieve the ball.

Weaknesses

Mikael's obvious weakness is his injuries, which he currently seems to have been recovered from. Earlier this year in April, Dyre attempted to make his return, but after just 38 minutes he was forced to be replaced.

Additionally, Dyre may also sometimes lack a bit of concentration and may sometimes be late to return to defense after offensive runs. At just 19, he has plenty of time to improve on marking his opponents.

Mentality

Dyre has been through a lot in his short career, proving that he has the right attitude and devotion in order to fully recover from the type of on-going injuries that he has suffered from. An experience which has also made him a very mature player for his age.

Current Situation

Although Dyrestam was injured last season, he was signed to a four-year-contract at Goteborg before his surgery and recovery period, signing with the club until the end of the season 2013.

Which just goes to show the amount of confidence that he has received from his club and is still receiving, opening in the starting line-up whenever he is in good health.

Goteborg manager Jonas Olsson recently said the "He has really impressed on the left side, so for now we want to keep him there. He's very offensive and always creates problems for the opponents. He has played really good since he came back".

Five central defenders have transferred out from IFK Goteborg since 2004 and with Sigurdsson's recent transfer, Dyre hopes to become the next one to make it to the next stage, but for now he hopes to first acquire a regular spot as central defender in IFK Goteborg .

IMScouting scouts believe that Dyrestam has the ability to become a star defender for Sweden, but only if he manages to stay away from more injuries.

07/28/11 - Serder Serderov

Team: CSKA Moskva (Russia)
Shirt Number: 61
Nationality: Russia
Position: Striker
Secondary: Forward (L,R), Attacking Midfielder (L,R)
Age: 17
Height: 1.76 m / 5.77 ft
Weight: 69 kg / 151 lbs

Report: Russia's New Striking Sensation

17-year-old Serder Serderov is currently playing for CSKA Moskva 's youth team, although promoted to play for the senior squad last season, he participated in only three matches as an unused substitute.

Serderov is not the typical Russian striker that we have been accustomed to in the past years, with outstanding internationals such as Roman Pavluchenko, Pavel Pogrebnyal, Aleksandr Bukharov or Aleksandr Kerzhakov, who are all very physical forwards.

The 1.76m-tall is more of a technical forward, who is an attacking all-rounder, able to play also as an attacking midfielder or winger on both sides of the field, closer in his style of play to that of Andrey Arshavin or Sergio Aguero (to whom he is frequently compared to).

Serder is an excellent dribbler, but he is still far from being as great as Arshavin and he certainly doesn’t have the amount of experience to require a proper comparison to the Russian legend, but for his age Serderov holds much promise for Russia in the years to come.

Background and History

Born in Makhachkala Dagestan, his father signed him up to the Markarova football school, where he was later spotted by CSKA Moskva scouts when he was 13 years old and immediately signed to play in their academy.

Serderov has played for the Russian national team at both Under-16 and Under-17 level, also named the captain of the Under-17 squad, recently participating in the UEFA European Under-17 championship qualifying stages.

Serdorov holds an amazing tally of 11 goals in 11 appearances for the Under-17's.

Strengths

Serderov is a lightning fast attacker, with amazing technical abilities, who is at his best when facing the goal, able to execute accurate shots towards the goal from both in and out of the box area.

The youngster's biggest asset is his intelligence, always knowing how to use the open space in front of him to his advantage, often using his great pace to cut deep through the opposition's defensive line.

Weaknesses

Serder needs to work on his physical abilities in order to breakthrough at senior level and also work on his aerial abilities, although for his body size he is the kind of player that can hold his ground.

Additionally, with so much expected from this youngster, nothing can really equalize to experience and with CSKA currently leading the Russian Premier League, in one of their best seasons of the past years- it is unlikely that he will receive the time he needs on the field in order to keep his development rate high.

Mentality

Serderov is a very confident player, who believes in his abilities and hopes to play at the highest levels in Europe- particularly at Barca as many players do.

Current Situation

Since attracting attention in both domestic and international appearances, Serder has been approach by several high class sides including Juventus, Atletico Madrid, Anzhi Makhachkala, Rubin Kazan, Dynamo Kiev and even Barcelona.

Juventus were also reported to have actually sent an offer to CSKA Moskva for Serderov, but they were turned down.

CSKA Moskva have made it clear that they are looking to hold on to the top rated player and that they will most likely extend his contract before the beginning of 2012, with his contract due to expire next season.

08/04/11 - Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Team: Arsenal FC (England)
Shirt Number: 26
Nationality: England
Position: Attacking Midfielder (R)
Secondary: Midfielder (R,L,C)
Age: 17
Height: 1.8 m / 5.91 ft
Weight: 69 kg / 151 lbs

Report: The Southampton Wizard

Alexander Mark David Oxlade-Chamberlain, otherwise known as Alex Chamberlain , has been marked for some time now as one of the best youngsters in England.

The 17-year-old winger played an essential role in Southampton's success last season, helping his side gain promotion to the Championship from League One, after being relegated in 2009.

Chamberlain ended the season with a total of 9 goals, also providing 8 assists in 34 appearances.

The 1.8m-tall is often compared to former Saints winger Theo Walcott , both players holding explosive pace and great dribbling abilities, only that Alex is not a natural winger and had begun his youth career as a central midfielder and only later shifted out wide, due to his great speed and relative small size.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is a much better defender than Walcott and he is also more physical, able to play as a box-to-box midfielder.

Chamberlain's great performances have not gone unnoticed and he was previously called up to play for England at Under-18, Under-19 and Under-21 level.

Background and History

Born in Portsmouth, Chamberlain joined Southampton's youth academy when he was seven years old, joining an impressive list of players to emerge out of the majestic academy, with names such as Alan Shearer, Theo Walcott and Gareth Bale.

Chamberlain was the second youngest player to play a senior match in the club's history, after Theo Walcott , making his League One debut at the age of 16 and 199 days.

Alex is the son of Mark Chamberlain, the former Portsmouth and England winger, who was also the coach of young Chamberlain at Southampton in his early days at the academy.

When he was sixteen the club held him back a year for being somewhat smaller than his teammates in order to catch up in size.

Shortly after his 17th birthday, Chamberlain signed his first professional contract, signing a three-year-deal with Southampton.

Strengths

Alex is able to play with both feet and can play on either side of the field, holding an uncanny ability to control the ball while dribbling at a high pace.

The midfield all-rounder is deadly inside the box and is very accurate in his offensive actions and holds a great threat on the opposition from almost every position on the field.

Additionally, Chamberlain is also a very consistent defender, who will always be ready to go after the ball and in many cases start off the attack.

Weaknesses

As for any youngster at his level, a switch to a big club in the Premier League can have devastating consequences, needing to adjust to the pressure that comes with the role.

Nevertheless, Chamberlain seems ready to make an impact on the Premier League, even though he may become more prepared after playing a full season in the Championship.

Although he was previously questioned for his physical abilities, Chamberlain should not have any trouble as a winger, but he might have a hard time fighting off Premier League attackers in the centre of the midfield.

Mentality

A devoted and hard working player, who trained hard in order to wave off criticism of being physically weak by putting on body weight, making him the tough and confident midfielder that he is today.

Chamberlain is the kind of player that seems to be happy at whatever position he plays, even enhancing his abilities after he switched to play as winger, much like in the case of Gareth Bale for the Spurs.

Current Situation

Last season Chamberlain was named in the PFA League One Team of the Year for his outstanding performances for Southampton.

It seems that the longer the Saints keep him, the greater his accomplishments and the higher his market value rises. If a year ago Southampton received offers for him of around £8M, today his asking price is valued at around £12M.

Both Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool have all previously made offers for the player, but a deal hasn’t been made as of yet.

It has been rumored that it will only be a matter of time till Chamberlain will land at the Emirates Stadium, but it seems that lately Liverpool have been pulling more strings in order to finalize a deal.

In any case, Chamberlain has recently claimed that he is ready and eager to move on to join a 'top club' in the Premier League in order to test himself further.

Chamberlain is signed at Southampton until June 2013, who will most likely want to get the most out of his anticipated transfer.
