Raul is finished man...
For me the 3 man in attack should be Villa, Reyes and then Luis Garcia. Joaquin in the second half.

Great article, I don't know how I missed it.

I knew of the regional thing, but I didn't know it was that deep. Maybe this could explain the failure of the NT. I don't agree that the lack of success is a factor, England had a hard time as well, but their fans are as passionate as they come.

Mehdi, is La Mancha in Andalucia? (I am guessing that from Don Quixote :D ) I don't know if this is accurate, but to me it seems Andalucian and Castillians are the ones who identify more with Spain than Galicians, Basquans or Catalans.

BTW, just as a side note, is Valencia considered part of Castillia or is it in some other region?

hamoudi, here's a map of spain

regions-of-spain.gif

castilla is the area around madrid and central spain. there, sentiments for spain are the biggest.
Valencia is another region....

I believe Castillians and Andalucians identify most with Spain. The national spanish is also called "Castillian" in Spain from what I know(officially at least).

Right, the sentiment in madrid and castilla is bigger with the NT team.

Spain-Ucraine..this could be a very good match..Shevchenko starts the game for Ucraine although he's not 100% fit..They are strong and could upset the famous underachievers Spain..

Spain starts without Joaquin, Reyes and Fabregas..:wth: I'm very interested how will Torres perform in this match..I hope he does well and score..

2-0 Spain... Ukraine is overrated.

And Villa scores.... who else?:D He's much better than both Raul and Torres.

The goal was a fluke :rollani:

Spain is always very good at the start of the tournament. In 2002, they won all 3 group games with 3-1 :p With Hierro scoring a penalty each time, and Raul having at least a goal per game :D:D Kinda weird, and fun too. Then they beat the Irish 1-0 i think, or in penalties. Then they got a massacre from the ref, when playing V South Korea... I think that one of Italy and Spain could have played in the final, by beating Germany in the semis. But no one knows. Even if I liked that German team a lot, Italy and Spain were much better...

So this may be Spain's year at last. They deserved to compete till the end in the last tournament...

So unfair... No contact, the first penalty of the World Cup though was converted by Villa 3-0;)

Refs suck this year...

penalty was fine..torres was pulled on his short.

great game by Spain.

And I think Luis enjoyed this one...one saw today the difference between Xavi and Pirlo.

And who assisted the 4th goal?? Was it Puyol or Maradona?? ;)

why not Villa and Torres while we are at it :D they are defiantly better then the two crap strikers we usually use as our starters.

but I'm very glad that Spain for once played up to their potential in the WC. I hope they can continue on this path.

If Spain do not win with at least 6 goals over those two countries then the won't get far.

Tunisia just scored.
