Second place will be a tough one in this group...It might just go down to who concedes the least from Brazil

yeah, few players in croatia are australian croatians, and they chose to play for croatia, like simunic from hertha, didulica(goalkeeper), anthony seric... and australia have viduka and skoko, players that becomed a name in world football cause of playing for croatian clubs

and this group is everything but walk in the park for brasil, you will see that

I predict 5 points for croatia, but it's going to be so damn hard

Only win will come against australia, with all respect to them, but croatia is amazing tactical team, and australia will hardly find a way to score, but srna prso and I hope olic will be their night mare

croatia-japan is going to be a big draw, I am ready to bet on that right now with all I have

and suprise suprise, 1st game against brasil... 0-0
or minimum 1-0 win for brasil

Guys don't totally rule out Japan, they are the strongest of Asian teams, we all saw what they did in previous WC, Asian Cup 2004 and in confederations cup. I fancy them to get the second spot ahead of Croatia and Australia

Can I just say that Australians and Croatians complete hate the living hell out of each other in Australia, honestly expect to hera some news after this match is finished of some trouble down here in Australia. The hatred is extended because Croatia has three Australian players in their team who learnt their trade in Australia and lived in Australia, but then turned their back and chose to play for Croatia (Simunic, Seric and Didiluca). Not to mention about 5 or 6 Australians who have Croatian backgrounds in their team.

That is a lethal match.

he is australian and crotian, just like many more, but he decided to play for ausie. he made himself famous in croatian club, dinamo zagreb
And yes, expect some nasty thing after this match. They just don't love each others when it comes to football

I am just finding this a bit strange. Australia is like Canada, meaning there isn't really a dominant native race.

So when you say Australian and Croatians don't like each other, does that mean the Anglo-Australians or the Australians in general (Italian, Asian etc.)

As I know, croatians and australians don't hate each other, unless it's about soccer.
some time ago, long time, when it was really really hard to live in croatia, our ppl started to leave the country. Most of them ended at USA, australia, Germany and south america. So all players like viduka, skoko, simunic, seric, didulica are austrlian born guys, but parents wore croatians. so ofcourse they had 2 passports. they becomed a good players, and needed to decide for what NT will they play. Like we all know viduka and skoko stayed at australia, other 3 took croatian passport.
There is a big croatian colonia in australia, they even have own league there, offten there are big fights, and all that stuff.
But in some way australia never forgive simunic and co. for chosing croatia
on the other hand, croatia did to viduka and skoko

Croatia has a lot more experience but I dont think there is much diff between Australia and Croatia in quality of squads (provided all r fit)

I hope Australia does well

We have more experience and we are way better than Brasil,Aussie and Japan in tactical sense..

I think that Japan isn't that good anymore, besides we beat them 1:0 in France 98' by Suker goal..

Australia might be tough because of Kewell,Bresciano,Viduka...There are also Culina ( Croat as well) , Skoko, Aloisi...But their defence is weak, and I don't think they have enough experience..

Brasil..What to say about them..We played against them in August and it ended 1:1..We were better team and should have won,but WC is another thing..It will be very tough but if we play very defensive and rely on Olic speed ,and Eduardo (yes i'd prefer him instead Prso for this game) we might get a draw..

actually Japan has never been as good as they are now. They are hands down Asia's number 1 team.
It should be an interesting group..can't wait for Croatia-Australia..it should be "blood on the dancefloor" as I know both teams. ;)

I imagine a lot of "pemti curva" und "pitchko matre" exchanges between Kovacs and Viduka and others. ;)

Reactions from www.goal.com

Brazil coach Carlos Alberto Parreira: "In technical terms, it’s not so strong but it’s a group in which there’s going to be a lot of physical strength."

Japan coach Zico: "It is better to face Brazil in the group than the final."

Australia defender Tony Popovic: "This is what dreams are made of. One of the dreams has come true and now we dream that we can get through the group."

Croatia coach Zlatko Kranjcar: "I believe we’re better than Australia and Japan is also beatable. I’m satisfied."

Adriano is going to have some fun. I see him winning the Golden Boot.

Hopefully it will be:

Brazil
Aussies
Japan
Croatia

I hate Croatia...(no offence to our Croatian members :D)

Oh I can't deci
Brazil has got some luck, they were in an easy group in the last world cup. I would have preferred to see them with more stiff competition in their group. Should be fairly easy for Brazil, they can easily pass through using their B team...

I play in a croatian soccer team, who all supported the Aussies when they were playing Uruguay.
