Pandev is getting too much attention tbh.

Its not like he is or was some star who suddenly cant perform anymore. He wasnt, isnt and never will be anything more than an average squad player for a big team.

Obviously he shouldnt miss sitters like he does, but other than that maybe we are asking too much of him, he simply doesnt have the potential to make a difference at this level.

If Balotelli hadnt been such a mentaly unstable asshole Pandev would most likely never have been bought last winter, it was an act of desperation because we needed backup in attack if Balotelli caused too much trouble. The bad thing is that we are now stuck with him.

How long is his contract?

He was completely different player with Lazio. At the moment he doesn't look like professional football player. The difference is huge; he used to have spark and confidence. Now he is slow, clumsy, timid and absolutely useless in every possible way. With Lazio he scored 60 goals in 177 games, more than one in three games. Here he have scored 4 in 40 games. I'd love to have some stats on assists.

I know he often played different position at Lazio and that it might be harder to succeed here. Still, it's clear he is not the same player. Youtube videos does not tell much in general, I know, but in this case it's easy to see, that Pandev of today would never even have the courage to try the things he succeeded in doing with Lazio. Buying him was not an act of desperation - that's hindsight if anything! At the time it really seemed like a great deal to everybody; Mourinho, our board, fans and press.

Very, very nice post.

It's obvious to everybody who saw a fair time of Pandev at LAzio, that it's not the same player. Obviiusly Lazio is no Inter, so he won't be playing as good here, but the difference is just too big. I also believe that he CAN play a lot better.

That doesn't mean we should stick with him or something, just that watching him over the years I believe he should play better, and hopefully some day he will and he will become a great bench option for us, cause thus far considering his sInter spell, except for first 2 months, he hardly even deserves the bench.

in he's defence...lazio placed him on hold at the time he was peaking...he was put off for a long time not even training with the first team.
i feel sorry for him i hope he gets he's magic touches and scoring back on target i'm expecting some brilliance by him with the lazio match.

Alot of players have 1/3 goal/game ratios, but that doesnt mean they are good enough to play for a big club.

Some players have what it takes, some players doesnt, pandev belongs to the last catagory.

Some players who are highly influencial players at mid/lower table teams cant step up and do the same at a big club and then they become nothing more than squad players who arent really meant to be squad players and then they fail. Pandev is such a player.

Its like saying Quaresma wasnt the same player that he was at porto, its bullcrap tbh.

Some talented players can only make an impact at smaller clubs and ideal environments.

Indeed. But it would be easier to believe had he not have this 2 month spell at first.

Those 2 months showed that he can be a valid asset to this team, and that he can play well for a big club like Inter. Suazo, Mancini, Quaresma, could never say it, and this is what is different between those 3 for example, and Pandev.

With these 3 I agree completely with what you've said, but in Pandev case it's more complex.

Everyone can have a good run, despite not really having the required talent. It happens all the time.

Muntari for example had a decent first few months at Inter if i remember right and he has been pure horsecrap ever since, you going to tell me his case is more 'complex' too?

Its not like Pandev sat the world on fire either, he played fairly good, but the only thing that really stood out was the freekick in the derby (where he also missed a sitter :moan:)

Azzkikr is exactly right with Pandev. Pandev was very good at Lazio, which was not exactly a big club. At Inter, you have to withstand different pressure, you live in different (much bigger) atmosphere all the time. Pressure is on another level when you are part of the most successful club (for the last years) of the country. And Pandev can't handle it. He can't give the same performances he gives in less pressured place (Lazio). And this is not some freak theory, it happens everywhere, completely normal.

Pandev has contract till 2014, so it's still over 3 years. *sigh*
