Javier Zanetti,
Goodbye Zidane, lets all pay tribute to the best player in the last decade, he has to be among the best three players ever alongside pele and maradonna.

He was one of the greatest players, but he ended up his career the worst possible way. Anyway, goodbye Zidane, we'll all miss your play!

He is an ex-Juventina hero, so I never digested him.

About today, I don't think it will tarnish his reputation that much. It might seem horrible now, but that's because it's still fresh. Maradona disgraced himself in WC94 by testing positive for drugs and causing Argentina to crash out. Still, most people consider him the best ever and he is adored to madness in Argentina.

Anyway, good luck to Zidane :star:

Most people would rank Zidane higher than Baggio, Batistuta, Figo, Van Basten etc so I think that says enough about him. He changed the way midfield is played, in his time he was the best in the world. He was much better than what Ronaldinho is today, unlike Dinho, he didn't need a very good team to perform well with. Hell, even when he underperformed he still did magical things (CL final vs. Leverkusen :proud:)

Nobody has won more than Zidane, he's pretty much won everything in his career and has accomplished more than most footballers would even dream of. I wasn't shocked when I saw his headbutt, he's done shit like that before. I remember when he used to get frustrated during games he'd constantly foul opponents and step on there feet and clip them etc. He takes every game very seriously.

He scored a goal on his last game for Madrid, and brought France to one more World Cup final and IMO it will be their last for a very long time. Even at this age I don't think France supporters want him to retire.

I guess you can say he's arguably one of the top 5 best players in history.

Durai's best post ever, seriously.

Zidane should hold a farewell match, I hope he does..he deserves a better exit. Hold it in Marseille

It was truly a very bad way to end his career, but in the sum total of things, Zidane has contributed too much to the world game for anybody to ignore.

The man is a genius with the ball, and certainly one of the best players I have ever had the pleasure of watching.

Ciao,
Tim

grazie Zidane for all the memories.

Along with van Basten, Batistuta & Baggio, the greatest player to have ever played the game. Pele and Maradona don't compare.

just a shame he is sent off because of some bloke who belongs in a jungle rather than a futebol field, but Zidane's legacy puts that clown to shame as he will be remembered as a disgrace whereas Zidane can fark the blokes mother, impregnate his sister, kill his daughter and headbutt him and still be remembered as a better player and man than that fool.

Thanks for the great memories Zidane, truly a legend!

Zidane won't quit after all I think. It wasn't a proper farewell. We might see more from him! Anyway, I'm like Hamed with this one. I never really accepted the fact that Zidane was the best player, only coz he never played for my teams. In contrast, he played for teams I hated! Still, Zidane is the best player we have seen ;)

I was never a big fan of Zidane..He proved his class though in those last three games ( headbutt excluded )

He defintely achieved more than alot of the greats and thats why i think he ranks up there...I consider myself lucky to have seen him play.

Respect for the decades Best player.A role model for many(not taking into consideration the events that took place yesterday).Dudes,Maradonna was a drug addict(like some members noted) and he is still considered a God in Argentina.
