I don't play golf myself, but I've heard that it's one of the few equipment-based sports where "upgrades" in equipment really matter from year to year (at least on a pro level). As opposed to tennis, where 90% of new racquets are the same as the previous model, and pros are mostly playing with the same racquets they used as teens.

I thought people were being conned hard when they said that certain types of golf balls perform better than others. Did a bit of research into it, and seems like I was wrong.

I actually got a hand me down set from my father in law. Which is a blessing and a curse. My clubs are blades, which if you are familiar with golf is basically the most unforgiving type of golf club. Probably 10% of players should really be playing with them and can even really use them they way their designed to be used. So needless to say learning with this set has been tedious.

Not to mention I'm basically sharing the set with my wife. Learning golf was something we decided to do together. Another blessing and curse. I've been thinking about getting my own set soon, but I've got a lot of expenses coming up in the next few months so it's not a priority. I'm actually tempted to try the Cobra single length club iron set.

I literally just bought a set of the Cobra single length irons, which prompted the question. I'll report back to you how it goes.
