How fucking poor(in terms of money) are we?

Going for a relative cheap option doesn't make us poor. Like already explained the club could have decided to focus on the young players. Buying a super star means there is no/little room for them. Buying an experienced good backup guy like sculli gives them room while still protecting the club.

If he is a starter I would worry but I am pretty sure he isn't going to be.

Awful signing, this is not the ambitions of reigning European champions.

If you're optimistic, you better hope he'll be our 'Olic'...

It wouldn't be that bad if he was young, but the man is 29 and has predomintely been a journeyman until the last few seasons.

Tbh I'd be pretty meh if Newcastle were signing this guy, so it's awful that inter are seemingly replacing Balotelli with him.

He is not directly replacing balo. Balo's replacement is coutinho and biabany. He is the insurance guy in case they struggle. He will be 5/6th in line when it comes to the forwards.

Selling Balotelli was only going to worthwhile if a sufficient replacement was brought in, we're selling one of Europe's biggest talents here. Yeah, he's a petulant moron but he's god damn talented one. If we lose Maicon aswell the squad is already taken a massive step down from last season - quite ridiculous tbh.

We are selling balo because he dsirupts the squad harmony...Sure we lose one great talent but we already gained another this summer.

I believe you judge a mercato when its done. Losing maicon would be a big blow and he can't be replaced. But I don't see what can really be done about it. The guy wants to go and he will go. Hopefully branca and the scouts find a new maicon type, near impossible though.

I will judge the side when they start playing. I don't see losing balo and replacing him with coutinho and biabany as a massive step down. But we will only be able to judge after the season. I believe over a whole season they will be more productive but probably not be as big match winners but more consistent.

I hope we are signing someone BIG and that is why we decide to cut back the spending on LW.
Nothing is official yet.

Mascherano...

That's what I'm thinking as well Masch looks like being our "big" signing...

Anyway Sculli would be a decent signing, people should stop overreacting there's no reason he can't have an impact in Serie A: he's got plenty of experience and been a fairly consistant player at Genoa the last couple of years.

Now that I think about the UEFA player status,

Club-Trained: Santon, Biabiany, Orlandoni, (Obi ?, Balotelli ?)
Association: Matrix, Pandev, Castelazzi, (Muntari ?, Obinna ?)

Obi will probably fill the last club trained position and Sculli could fill the last association role if both Muntari and Obinna leaves.

Orlandoni and Matrix will probably both retire next year so we are going to need more incoming. (Ranocchia, Krhin, Destro)

I really haven't seen him play more than one or two times this year so I'm not going to murder him based on predictions. Nearly 20 goals last season so I'm not sure what this bitching is about for a decent backup.

What are you talking about? He scored only 6 goals last year. It is in his ENTIRE Genoa career he netted 18 times....

If he scored 18 goals one year he would be damn hot on the market already.

sculli is better than pandev in speed, stamina, defend, jumping, heading, finishing

while pandev is only better at dribbling, passing

i think sculli will take pandev's place in starting line-up

Or maybe the club decided that coutinho and biabany are good enough for replacing balo and cover the lw so they went for a cheap backup option in sculli.

Most likely it looks like so. Not perhaps a stupid idea if they see Coutinho being able to take the starting spot this soon (in his first 1-2 years at Inter). Since Pandev seems to be a starter for now.

Well, hopefully this really means no Kuyt. Actually I start to like this since now we are really pushing our young players to take their place in the starting lineup. Kuyt wouldn't have been a big leap from Pandev in a way that we would have had much better chances in CL etc.
