Do we not have a thread for the great man yet?
Happy 70th!
Happy 70th!
MILAN - F.C. Internazionale wishes its former coach Giovanni Trapattoni many happy returns on his landmark 70th birthday. Trap, who, fittingly, will be blowing out the candles as coach of the Republic of Ireland on St Patrick's Day, was born in Milan suburb Cusano Milanino in 1939.
During his five-season spell at the helm of Inter from 1986-91, Trapattoni guided the Nerazzurri to their first record-breaking Scudetto triumph in 1989 (with 58 points when 2 points were awarded for a victory), winning the Italian Super Cup in the same year before adding the club's first UEFA Cup two seasons later.
Through inter.it, José Mourinho wishes Giovanni Trapattoni many happy returns with this birthday message: "An embrace and sincere wishes to one of the greats of our sport, for his contribution in his role as a football coach, for the extraordinary victories in his career, particularly those on the Inter bench, but most of all for his ever-youthful desire to win and work on the pitch, which is our world, without confines, like Trap sees it."
