Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, that name was not picked at random.

Whoever thinks Handa is a garbage keeper needs to watch Burki. Chesus.

The race for the CL spots this year is going to be nuts because there are legitimately about seven teams fighting for the three non-Bayern spots. Only seven points between 2nd place Leipzig and 8th place Frankfurt (who are in excellent form and, of course, just added Jovic, who already appears to be back at his Frankfurt-form level).

Gladbach, despite their current standing, has been so extremely frustrating this season. 11 points lost from conceding goals in the last 15 minutes of games this season (though last week against Stuttgart was an absolute referee robbery, and that's not me speaking, that's the referee himself admitting he fucked it up). -7 overall margin in terms of points rescued in the last 15 minutes vs. point lost; compare that to Wolfsburg, who is +6 in that department, and they entered the week one point ahead of Gladbach in the table.

Also, Dortmund might be in trouble right now, and obviously whatever title hopes they had this year are long gone, but the Champions League is another matter and it would still be hard to bet against them just based on their talent level alone. They've probably had the toughest schedule since the return, and they beat Wolfsburg and Leipzig rather convincingly as part of that. I'm still going to tip them to make the CL when this is all said and done, although I certainly wouldn't be the least bit sad if they failed. That Leverkusen has mostly performed at a high level and Frankfurt is starting to peak...just going to say nothing would surprise me with those teams. I would be surprised if Wolfsburg and Union can maintain their pushes in the Rückrunde though, something that will help them (and Frankfurt) is the lack of European games. Gladbach has CL, Leverkusen has EL...Wolfsburg is still in the Pokal and Union and Frankfurt are both out (so is Bayern ). Same argument we're going to have to hope plays out with Milan over here; that their Europa League campaign provides just enough wear and tear to see them tail off a bit in the 2nd half, just enough that we a) get an open door to go through and b) we actually fucking do it. It's been really uncomfortable looking up at Milan the entire fucking season and seeing them on an 86-92 point pace at the halfway point (because, seriously, where the fuck did that come from?). But this is a Bundesliga thread so I'll stop here.

Some of us are critical of him and don't think he was a top5 keeper in the last 5 years, but we don't think he is garbage.

Burki most def isn't a keeper for a 'big' club

The biggest issue with Burki is he's wildly inconsistent. He can make some world class saves as easily as rookie mistakes like his reaction to Gladbach free kick last night. You can't count on this type of GKs and that's why they're never good enough for a top club.

@Kramerica, excellent post about the CL race in Bundesliga. Personally i am rooting for Union Berlin to finish in top 4. Apart from the always charming underdog story, it will be really entertaining if they manage to make Hertha look like an even bigger laughing stock than they usually are.

Zirkzee to Parma, loan + option. Bayern have a lot of good youth players around the league and Nubel still on the bench, 2 appearances so far.

Bayern losing 2-0 away to Frankfurt. If I were still betting, that'd be a very good one.

Good for the league would be someone else winning it. Don't think that's feasible for any other club out there so it just prolongs the inevitable.

If it happens that there are only 2 points difference, anything can happen

As much as I hate to see one team winning everything, when it comes to Germany this isn't 20 years ago where you had no clue of what would happen.
The difference in level has become unbelievable now, Bayern cannot lose it even if they tried to.

PSG in France also is similar but since they lack the depth it is possible that Lille or Lyon may snatch the title. Hopefully it happens but on the other hand I'm not sure if in the long run it will help stop this stupidity in modern football and UEFA tries to intervene and curb the strength of the select few elite clubs and promote domestic leagues over their precious fucking Champions League...

Conflict of interest here as the CL is a tournament that only a few bother with, even if it has people watching it casually all over the world. People want their domestic competition to be strong and competitive.

Even back in this forum, before the 2009/10 season, when asked if people wanted Scudetto or CL, the majority wanted the domestic tournament. (I said all both :D )

Eintracht are in insane form. 9 wins and 1 draw in their last 10 Bundesliga matches. They have good chances of playing CL football next season. Especially with the two Borussias being so bad and Leverkusen being the typical inconsistent Leverkusen.

Money is being poured into sports more and more every year (probably except during covid). On the contrary it is also possible for other clubs, over time, to get close to PSG and Bayern levels in their respective leagues. It would be a very long and non-linear process but its not out of the realm of possibility for a few clubs to make that jump.

The German league especially would be very enticing if I was a multi-millionaire investor, but still nothing compared to England.

Although I should end off by saying that the European super league is probably inevitable at this point. It's been talked about for too long, it's making uefa consider changing the champions league format to reflect a league, a lot of powerful people approve of it (agnelli, rummenigge, etc.), and most importantly the money would be too great.

Any streams?

I'm not even sure if there's a point watching those amateurs against a professional military unit, but then there's no other match remotely exciting tonight.

Out of all theirs visits to Bavaria, Dortmund chose to step up the only time they have no chance for the title. So typical.

Lewandowski reached 20 goals against Dortmund in Bundesliga. That's insane.
