I agree completely with Frisko. They infact did have a hard day of physical training the day before the match. Here is the training schedule from Wednesday:

Wednesday, August 18 2004, 11.00: Training 17.30 Training. That is DOUBLE training sessions. ;)

And who says that Genoa aren´t in a tough pre-season with lots of training? ;)

We need to be critical when they deserve it. It was a great lineup against a team who´s behind us in their preperations. We can not blame fitness, when we are supposed to have better fitness than our opponent.

Of course the result was not that good but we have to keep the eye on the ball: To be as best as possible on Tuesday! ;)

Results of training matches are not the important thing. The vital thing is to gain form and fitness for the official matches. Also to increase the player´s understanding with each other. The result is only useful for our mood which at the moment seems good.

I will only judge the players and Mancini after official matches, I don't think they have the motivation or the interest to play friendly matches and looking at the result. They just see it as training.

I totally agree. As Frisko I only judge a coach on his official results! There is no guarantee they give 100% in those matches.

C'mon. It's utterly ridiculous for the club in the callibre of Inter to be blaming 'heavy training sessions' for a defeat against Genoa. I was actually disgusted that the players say that out. One way or another, it's something wrong with the pre-season. Either the training programme/schedule is too harsh and ineffective or our players simply performed jack. Worse, both.

To me preseason results mean nada. It is the real trophies, first and foremost il Scudetto that counts. ;) I don´t care much about Birra Moretti Torphy... :D The purpose of the preseason is to get the team ready for the season and avoid injuries. Not to win as many friendly games/trophies as possible.

The first part of the training is basically only physical. Players get back from holidays and they need to get back to full fitness. We're in the middle of that. We're just having lighter session 4 or 5 days before the Basel games.

So I really don't know what is so strange about us being tired after training hard...

Boys and girls, you're judging to earlie. Give them a chance, they need only time. Playeres are there, so as coach. Now we have to be patitent as more as we can. Don't fall apart because of one or two bad pre season games

Nobody said anything about falling apart...Its also good that we lose now to stand on the weaknesses,BUT this is Genoe we are talking abouit not a SerieA team...We should be ahead of them in fitness, tactics and quality of players.Thats why some of us arent convinced...We just hope they improve for Basel

It's only practise....And some of you are allredy beginnig with the old mentalety....To daubt our team...WE have to suport Mancio and the players whatever happends. If somthing goes wrong we have to suport the team even more instead of blaming them. No wonder we havent won anything. And the season haven't even started yet...

I strongly agree with you, Mikkel. Magnificent post. :strong: Faith is key to every fan, doubt means less confidence in Inter. And now more than ever support is what we need most from the fans. All Inter fans hope for a bright future and they can all do their part to be nice, passionate and faithful supporters. On Tuesday let´s cross our fingers and support our beloved team! Everybody at Giuseppe Meazza should become the 12th man which the players sometimes mention.

Although it can be hard at times to believe in the club we must do our part to be the 12th man. Because that is what being a fan is all about - to help the players and coach achieve the goals that we all want and need!

:wallbang:

Who gives a dumb f*ck about the results of the pre-season anyway? I don't care about the Tim Trophy or Birra Moretti or Genoa Cup or Pirelli Threesome Cup whatever the name is, but the pre-season is usually an indication on what will our next season be. Expectations and predictions are made through the team's performance in the pre-season. We didn't do well, lost against few teams we should have beaten and thus, it indicates that next season can be a season that we'd rather forget.

Many teams have won titles and achieved glory while enduring bad pre-season results. So I don´t give it too much importance, really. Sometimes we fear next season before it even begins.

We have played one match so far in CL and now the season seems failed already? It makes no sense IMO... :D

Notice the difference. I didn't say that, due to the pre-season, the season has been a failure. I predicted that the season will be a failure.
