No way, we peaked 1 - 2 years ago and this team is on its return now, it was already in WC2010, but a bit of luck and a Sneijder (who is also not a glimpse of two years back anymore) got us to the final. Spain has always been overrated, they could barely stop this old squad even in the final, and only defeated Germany because Germany was stupid enough to use that one tactic you can't use against Spain, out of fear from 2008. If Bert van Marwijk would have already been there in 2006, things would have looked very, very different, and I don't think we would have choked against Russia in 2008. Bad luck again in 2010 etc. pulled another '74/'78, we all know the fucking story, I wouldn't be surprised if we lose to any team in our poule and get fucked out in the group stages. Spain is back to what it's used to be and will miss Villa, the only striker that could pull off something in their struggling attack. Germany on the other hand is a fresh young squad that already owns everyone by now, and they can only get better. They will be dominating the world for years to come. It is what it is.

I wouldn't count off Italy tbh. They play great football, no pressure because no one counts on them. I don't think they can win it, but i'm sure they can make some problems for the others, and surprise them. I also think they will go far. We will see.

Giuseppe Rossi, Antonio Cassano, Mario Balotelli, too bad for the formers injuries but that looks like a real formidable attack. El Shaarawy could also be called up and he could be a real wild card. Not to mention Pirlo, Motta, Marchisio, Montolivo, Aquilani and Nocerino. They've got some pretty good players, I can't wait to see their game with Spain should be entertaining.

Pazzini has also been in great form with them. 3 goals and an assist in his last 7 appearances...and he has only played 244 minutes in those 7 matches.

I am usually very pessimistic going into these competitions, but I have the same feeling as I did going into WC 2006. After the way Euro 2000 ended, I feel like we deserve one!

I'm curious to see who Low starts. Does he stick with Klose and Podolski or does he utilize Reus, Schurrle, Gomez? Not to mention he has the Benders and Kroos to play somewhere in midfield.

They play the 29th. If Italy is still on form, they should win comfortably, USA cannot score more than one goal against weak teams, they should have tons of trouble against a good Italy squad.

I don't hate the Italy NT, but I can't say I support/root for them either. Usually I tend to root for someone who isn't France, England, Italy or Spain when it comes to European NTs.
