Thanx. I like when people think I have charisma.

Zidane was bad in Portugal except the goals he scored. And he was a disgrace for Real last season IMO. ;)

:dielaugh::lol::howler:

I find it hard to argue about football with you anymore Gismo. :p

You said that Ronaldo's finishing has been very poor when I found it that it's the area which he had improved the most ever since his injury. He always take it early and with his talent, rarely miss.

And now you said Zidane has been poor even though he has been undoubtedly France's best player in Euro 2004. :D

Please don't argue back, I'm just using them as an example of things that we disagreed upon. :D

Well Italy has players such as Ferrari, Oddo, Pirlo, Perrotta, Gattuso, Gilardino, they re all very young and they're experienced already. And not in the French league, in Serie A!

Are we talking about the same team here??

Oddo, 28 years old.
Perrotta, 27.
Gattuso, 26.
Pirlo, 25.

Not geriatric maybe, but "all very young" as you put it, definately not.

Other than Ferrari and Gilardino, I don't see world-class prospects in Italy like France has.

Gosh I thought Oddo and Perrotta were much younger! Ok what about these: De Rossi, Maresca, Miccoli...

As long as they're not older than 25, they're the players that we'll be seeing in Germany and at Euro 2008. Making predictions about what will happen after that is really impossible at this moment. So that's why I included players of that age.

Italy do have very good prospects, players who are relatively young and have many years ahead of them.

Maresca, Brighi, Bovo, De Rossi, D'Agostino, Pelizzoli, Bonera, Gilardino are just the tip of the iceberg. The French may be coming up with very high profile names, but you shouldn't mark the Italians down. For a fact, the Italian youth teams have all done comparatively well in the UEFA U21, U19 and U17 in recent years. If those youth tournaments are a gauge of the mass of talent produced in Italy every year, then i would say gli Azzurri have a bright future ahead.

Ciao,
Tim

There's one thing that worries me a lot thought Tim. At Euro 2004 we had Buffon-Cannavaro-Nesta-Zambrotta-Pirlo-Gattuso-Vieri-Totti-Cassano, and we didn't manage not only to win, but not even to get close to play decent football... it really feels like if we didn't win with that squad, maybe it's just not going to happen...

Since Baggio has gone, Italy just went downhill...

It was all due to Trap. ;) I don't know how will Lippi fare in the NT, honestly. He is one of the best coach in the world but was shambolic last season. Let's hope it's a one off season, just like Bobo. :D

Guy and Tim, I have 2 two-words for you! You suck & Antonio Cassano! :star:;)

Han: I will accept your request and don´t debate back. ;) But I have to say that I am shocked and I can´t believe that after seing both La Liga and Portugal you still have those opinions.

Maybe it is because we see things RADICALLY different. :D

No one is marking Italy down. Only that France can be a powerful factor even without Zidane. Even more powerful than Italy - that is how much they can live without Zizou.

You and Frisko give Bovo, De rossi, Miccoli etc., however I can also give you Pedretti, Rothen, Govou, Cisse, Boumsong etc. - all in all, I beleive that within this list France is better than Italy.

Fair enough. But you do understand that we cannot reach a concensus on this argument because i'm very well aware of the young French talent as you are of the Italian ones. Therefore, before this argument began, we already held our views - i don't think that's going to change. ;)

Still..

I don't agree that the list of players are better than the Italian ones. The Italian players have been performing rather well, and i brought up the example of performance in the UEFA U21 and below competitions as an example. The Italians are going strong and have no cause to fear for the future. The only reason why the inability of Italy to impose their supremacy on the continent is very much thanks to the senior squad - it can be a huge red herring as their performances have not been on par as of late.

Ciao,
Tim
