What language did you speak with him Benny? Red star was awesome in the early 90's, I guessed you trained with them when things went sour.
I thought Maldini owned Sweet Years.
heaps of different players own sweet years, the one in Dekis store had pictures of Deki and Adriano and i think C Zanetti?
What the hell are u talking about benny?! U're our pride! U're already have a place at La Grande Inter!!
Nima compared to Deki and say Nicola Lazetic who was also there at the time i was crap... physically, mentally and class wise i was lacking what they had
there were other players in that team that forged great careers... compared to mine they were superstars and la grande where i was just a water bearer
Lol thats great Benny...the best I have done is play in college and attend some training sessions with Giuseppe Giannini and Alberto Cavasin...I thought that was cool and you got to train with Stankovic, unreal man!
it was both the best and worst time of my life...football wise i was training twice a day four times a week and playing a friendly game every Wednesday..
eating ok,training, the only time i was 100% focused
Giuseppe Giannini, great player and very good looking man
...was starting infront of Baggio in Italia 90 :frustrat:...
I got drunk with Mario Stanić
You lucky bustard Benny
i was very lucky but i remember clearly that Deki drank Ballantines in cafes..
i learnt how to play chess and card games hanging around cafes before and after training...
some cafes would all the 1st grade players coming
..
footballers are given the greatest treatment ever, how they fukc their careers up is beyond me...from food to alchohol to women, footballers get it all for free
What language did you speak with him Benny? Red star was awesome in the early 90's, I guessed you trained with them when things went sour.
because i have family from the former Yugo in Istria Croatia i have had some knowledge of the language, things like general directions etc..but i couldnt and still cant deliver full sentences...
the coach told me to call him"shef" which means chief and that was it..
besides "pushi kurats" nothing really stuck... and "yebem tee"
check out the 20 second mark Hamooudi, i used to hear that on the training ground non stop..

funnily enough the coach is the current coach of Red Star, his name is Petrovic Vladimir...one of the best Red Star players ever
Pics added.
Benny we wanna hear the story bro.
Han,the story of getting to Serbia and my struggles whilst living in Serbia at the time are far greater than my footballing story surrounding Dejan and Red Star..
it took me 3 days of stay in Frankfurt, then 4 days in Budapest,then2 days at Szeged, then 1 and a half days at the Hungarian Serbian border and some $500 later to enter Serbia..
luckily my agent had some people in Hungary and Serbia to smuggle me in...
the everyday survival in Serbia killed me, i was getting mugged every second day for my shoes to my boots and clothes...i lived 40 kms from the stadium and was only 17..if i got to training without an incident i was happy
i was happy to leave really, but always have some great thoughts about all of the things that were happening to me..
you could sell a pair of levi's 505's for $350 Deutch marks back then,a pair of 501's was about $500...i was making more money selling my Lacoste sweaters..etc and bartering my other stuff
because of political sanctions a single banana would be 5-6 Deutch marks,a litre of petrol 5-6 deutch marks etc...life was tough as nothing could officially leave or enter the country like medicine, food etc the black market was booming on the streets ..
public transport was a disaster but it was free atleast..i had to change 3 buses to get to training...often waiting at bus stops like a foreigner asking questions
that was my first foray into football trials and tribulations
later on in my career i went to trials in Greece,France,Romania,Bulgaria,Singapore and was going to try the middle east aswell as i had some contacts in Bahrain but pulled up because of personal problems...
i broke my leg(both fibia and tibula) and quit football at 22,about 10 years ago
i played at the highest level in my home state of New South Wales and played in a first grade Grand final, that being the pinnacle of my career
we lost 3-1 infront of some 15,000 -20,000 ...it was the day princess Diana died..il never forget it
i played against the following players but never in a competetive game just friendly
hugo Maradona..didnt want to look him up iwikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pedro_Troglio
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salvatore_Schillaci
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerald_Vanenburg
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunga
i played against Viduka in a competetive league game and we lost 16-1,i got sent off in the 10 minute..
i played with Tim Cahill and Sean Cahill in my school team and we lived in the same street..
im mates with Zelko Kalac
thats it.... i had dinner with Carlos Pachame aswell and asked him to take me to Avispa Fukuoka...he kindly told me to work more on my ball control and he would be back... thats like the 'i call you dont call me " line in football i think
