I'm looking forward to playing FM 2009 with our whole new squad :). Finally we have someone (Sneijder) to take some decent free kicks :p

Huh???

Balotelli scored almost every single free kick he took for me, he was probably the best free kick taker in the game...

Football Manager 2010

It's coming out, 30th October!
Do we have any hard-core players around here? I know i spend like at least the first 3 months playing like a madman, the next 3 months playing slightly less, and then the next 3 months playing half the madman, during the last 3 months of summer tho, i usually take a rest and await the next one.

I simply love it. How many of you can't actually wait for like 25 more days?

It seems like we don't really have many FM players around here. :)
Weird thing is though, that i rarely play with Inter, i always start the first game with Inter but i get bored of it like after 2 years the most, winning back to back champions leagues and making a hell of a dream team. (Last year with Messi, Aguero and Ronaldo all in the team)
Much better to start with some team from England's 4th league or something.

I always play Inter and do a mixture of Ferguson and dont spend any money on known players. Mostly free agents, youngsters who I sign out of contract or keep loaning them till their contracts are gone.

I am also a big Fan of FM. I didn't play much 09 because i had no time , but i totally played the shit out of 08,07 and so on.....I also can't wait to play the 2010, especially since I'll be getting a new laptop ( lighter and more portable) and also I have very long and boring classes @ College. My biggest achievement in this game : in FM 2005 I think ... I had one hell of a Parma team , I won the Scudetto , Uefa Cup, semis in Cl and I was a top team in Serie A , always beating the shit out of Milan,Roma etc

that's the problem with FM, its too easy. Winning back to back UCL and scudettos... but I was playing as INter though. WOuld be interesting playing as a mid table italian team like Genoa or Catania, only buying unknowns and youth players

The most interesting is starting with a totally crap team such as Colchester United(English third league). I started with them on fm 09 and went on up to 2015, when i had won the UEFA twice, reached the quarters of UCL the most, and premiership's third place, could probably won EPL and UCL in the next two years, the way things were going.
All i could buy was unknowns and very young talents, mainly from South America.
With Inter, i just can't resist the likes of Messi and Aguero, who i dream of to see at Inter, though this year, i'm totally planning to challenge myself into ITALIANIZING Inter. I want to have at least 6 Italian starters and half the reserves, yet have success.
Cassano, Viviano, D'Agostino, Bocchetti, Rossi etc. HERE I COME!

Did you play fm09? They made it quite harder, for the non-tactical freaks that is.
I am a tactical freak, i spend 80% of the time working on tactics, because they with EACH YEAR, they are putting more and more importance to the tactics in FMs, making it the major and most essential part of having success at FM.

This year, they are putting new features in tactics, such as the "Box to box" and "Trequartista" midfielders, and several more roles, as well as a totally new tactical module.

Its good they're improve the game tactictally. I guess the majority of players are EPL followers who don't care much for tactics and strategy hence why its not central to the game. But it should be.

I've been playing these game since back in the old CM days. Looking forward to the FM10. I also usually always start with Inter and then get bored and switch to a lower team.

On FM09 my best achievements were getting Pergocrema from Serie C to the Champions League, along with beating Man Utd to win the Club World Cup final with my local Australian team. :) After that I just didn't have enough time to play the game.

I've been playing this game since it was called CM01/02 back then, until now. I realised the tactical aspect of the game is getting ridiculously difficult. I don't like using top 4 teams, so I always end up using Tottenham or Sunderland in the EPL. But I always find it hard playing much weaker teams when I'm not playing at home. I'm quite a tactical freak too, since I spend quite a lot of time reading up and creating my own tactics. But it's getting frustating when everything I tried is not working...

I'm quite looking forward to FM 2010 though, seeing that it has the new tactical wizard function. But I think they're still using most of the old tactical settings as in the previous FM. I'm guessing that the 'trequartista' and 'box to box' positions are just more elaborate and varied positions, but works the same way as the 'set position' in FM 2009.

You tried English Third League, that's good. Once I tried with the English Conference North or South team (6th tier I guess) Hinckley Utd. Managet to get to go only 2 tiers up.

Good thing was the team was from Birmingham and I had Aston Villa as my parent club so every year they gave me 3-4 quality players that really helped me.

Talking about managing lower league clubs, I just started playing FM2009 again, this time patched till 9.03, where the match engine has supposedly improved quite a lot. Managing Milwall in League 1. Practically revamped a large part of my team. Looking good, and just waiting for the season to start...

I can't wait till the game is out. Hopefully Demo version will be out within the next few days so we can check the new features.
As for managing lower league teams the good thing is to choose one which is in a big city so you can get good parent club. I will probably manage Welling United which is in the Blue Square South if I'm correct. When you will ask for a parent club the board will offer you at least one of the Premier League teams such as Arsenal, Chelsea or Tottenham.
