Awfull, awfull, awfull game. Schalke 2-5 , Bbilan 6-1, and now Fiorentina 4-1. The way we went in this game is just bar awfull. We let Fiorentina control everything, no pressing, no defense, no midfield, no attack. Handanovic was the only player who played a match.
It's just awfull. Strama knew Fio is a passing team. So you have to put pressure. Pressure 90 mins long. But what we did? Nothing, just let Fiorentina attack and attack. We really needed Gargano this game. Sad but true. His running gave some pressure. Now nothing. We should be happy it is just '4-1' and not 6-1 or 7-1, Jovetic, Caudrado, Valero, Llajic and Aquilani completely dominated Inter. And we did nothing to stop them.

Handanovic:The poor guy was in a shooting. He saved us from further embarrassing. Good game.

Juan and Rannochia actually played a good game, it's difficult to see at the end of a 4-1 scoreline. The midfield was just ran ragged. Guarin put in his worst performance ever seen.

More worryingly for the future we see what a Cassano+Palacio line up will look like, where will we get consistent goals? Besides Cassanos magic we were impotent on attack.

The derby will be very hard, but Milan don't play like Fiorentina.

Fiorentina's left side played Barcelona style. I don't know if they were amazing or we really sucked. Even Cambiasso-Zanetti combination couldn't stop them.

We fielded the best players we have but the problem was the tactics. Players were too far from each other, long balls, no one makes a run, no one helps a teammate. When a Fiorentina player had the ball, specially on the left side, you could see other players run with him, open up spaces, give him passing opportunities. When we had the ball either the payer made a stupid run to the other side of the pitch and lost the ball or a long ball to forwards which again ended up in Fiorentina having the ball.

Fiorentina's tactic was easy, simple and effective. Pasquale, Valero and iforgothisname made a triangle of players on the left side. Their mission was to keep the ball between each other and carry it on close to Inter's box then pass to either Jovetic or Ljajic. 3 out of thier 4 goals were made this way. The 3rd goal was a rebound which later on Aquilani passed to Jovetic to score.

The problem wasn't that we got schooled by this tactic. The main problem is why we didn't do anything about it? Instead we kept bringing more fullbacks on the pitch!


This was a horrible game, our worst this year. It clearly showed Strama's lack of experience which is why we should've not hired him in the first place.

Tbh, If Torino had Jovetic and Llajic the score would have been the same. Passing teams will/are rape/raping us. Put pressure against them and you have a change on a big result. As we saw in Jube game. PRESSURE THE FUCKERS. And voila 1-3.

I don't think we should be changing formation, but we should be changing tactics. If you look back at the game, you will see that all of their players apply pressure to our players constantly, but we do not do the same to them. It is not the defence's fault, as Ranocchia and Juan are brilliant but can't deal with attack after attack after attack because the opposition have so much space to play with! Not even Thiago Silva or Piqué can defend at a high standard, consistently throughout a whole 90 minutes. We also all acknowledge that Cassano and Palacio aren't pure number 9's, but it's not their fault either as they rarely get an opportunity to test the keeper. It all comes down to the midfield. It's their job to apply pressure to each player, their job to prevent the ball from getting to the defence every 2 minutes, their job to provide the attackers with opportunities. We need to sort out the balance in the midfield so that each player knows exactly what they have to do and why they have to do it e.g. Kuzmanovic and Cambiasso mainly have to defend, Guarin and especially Kovacic have to attack more and create opportunities for the attackers, all midfielders have to prevent the opposition from passing like Barca by applying pressure like Mourinho's tactics. All of Fiorentina's midfield did exactly what they needed to do. Their defence was average and their offence was above average. We were also tired from Cluj, but at the end of the day, we must recognise that, in a sense, they didn't score goals but we conceded!
