Wow that has to be their most expensive signing ever. Good for them though.
General question, who's the last world class striker to develop in England that wasn't on either Arsenal or Man Utd? When I say developed I mean coming before the age of 22-23. There could be a obvious answer I'm over looking but I can't think of one.
Fixed that for you :trolldad:General question, who's the last world class striker to develop in England?

He is in the home kit poster, just removed from away.
Torres joined Liverpool when he was 23.
Cole and Shearer for Newcastle. Well Cole was very very good striker.
Owen from Liverpool.
I can't remember anyone apart from these.
Henry was only turning 22 the summer he joined Arsenal I think.
Suarez Liverpool
Came at 23-24 if I'm not mistaken.
But anyways I appreciate the responses from all.
EPL has become a buying league so not at all surprising they don't develop many top class talents from scratch in the last 10 years. Moving to EPL IMO at too young of an age is not good for the development of a player, but that's just my opinion. Even Serie A a "league of no youngsters" has managed to develop Jovetic, Cavani, and Sanchez all of whom came very young.
He was 23 and nowhere near his form currently.
