Us.. I can say fuck luck, kudos to my NT... We just hit the bar, and in the second half we are outplaying russia by FAR... Pure penalty not given for us, and it could have easily been a penalty AND red card for the russians (i think it was Ignashevich ) .. just keep this going, even if we lose by margin bigger than 1 goal... With this style, the slow irish defence will be raped

Scottish referee Craig Thomson has called off Italy-Serbia after Serbian hooligans smashed parts of the Stadio Luigi Ferraris. The Azzurri should receive a 3-0 victory.

The qualifying campaign continued with some changes from the side that drew 0-0 with Northern Ireland. Daniele De Rossi was injured, while Marco Borriello and Simone Pepe dropped to the bench in favour of Gianluca Zambrotta and Sampdoria duo Angelo Palombo and Giampaolo Pazzini. Serbia also made adjustments following their shock 3-1 home defeat to Estonia, but kept in Serie A stars Dejan Stankovic and Milos Krasic.

The game nearly didn't go ahead at all. Serbian fans invaded the team bus, throwing smokebombs and injuring goalkeeper Vladimir Stojkovic, who as a result was not even on the bench. Hooligans cut protective nets, smashed the plexiglass walls and hurled objects at police and opposition supporters, forcing riot police to intervene, even if they did not charge. UEFA delegates insisted the game go ahead in this chaotic atmosphere.

Things weren't much better on the pitch once it kicked off, as Rajkovic was booked for an horrific tackle on Andrea Pirlo that might've warranted a straight red card after two minutes. Moments later Pazzini wanted a penalty for a shove in the back, but the Scottish referee waved play on.

Leonardo Bonucci had the ball in the back of the net, but was clearly offside from Giorgio Chiellini's assist.

Play was halted again after six minutes when flares were thrown on to the pitch, just missing Emiliano Viviano. After several minutes of debate in the centre-circle, the referee decided that was enough.
