I have seen on various sites that we have been linked with him...and after reading this I was wondering what your views are on Cavani:

Palermo striker Edinson Cavani has promised to become Inter's Wayne Rooney if they sign him this summer.

The 23-year-old Uruguay international is up for sale after requesting a move from the Renzo Barbera.

Palermo have received several offers, the biggest coming from German side Wolfsburg.

Interviewed in La Gazzetta dello Sport, Cavani made no secret of his desire to join Inter.

“It would be wonderful to stay in Italy and fight for both the Scudetto and Champions League.

“I would like to once again thank Maurizio Zamparini. He has been like a father to me, but remember that our President is also a very capable businessman. From my sale and hopefully that of Simon Kjaer, he will receive a lot of money. So it would also make a good present for him.

“As a young boy I was crazy for Ruud Van Nistelrooy, a killer inside the penalty area. I adore those players who hurl the ball into the net.

“I am a centre-forward who also knows how to adapt himself to the role of playing outside forward. Let's put it this way: I would like to become Inter's Wayne Rooney, a striker who knows how to perform many roles.”

When asked for his impression of Inter's new boss Rafael Benitez, Cavani said: “He is a No 1, a Coach who knows how to win, someone who is used to working for prestigious clubs. He seems like a choice in line with Inter's ambitions.”

Personally, I think he would be a great signing and would give us a different option upfront and since he's only 23 he has youth on his side. What is your views?

This should be under Transfers & Rumors not Players & Coaches.

And as far as Cavani goes, unless Palermo cut their asking price in half I don't even want to entertain the idea of signing him

My bad if someone could move it to another thread - that would be great.

I think the problem is Palermo know they can get that sort of money for him especially with Man City in the hunt.

so did i

i don't want him, he is overrated, and too expensive, definitely not Inter material. We already have 4 strikers, we do not need 5th one.

Well to be honest with you..I'd much rather have Cavani as a striker than Pandev. In addition, Milito is 31 years old, at most he has another 2 good seasons in him. I think Cavani would be a good long term addition to the squad.

Rather Benitez try and turn Mario into the new Rooney before we go out and buy another young forward.

I'll keep this open. We've been linked seriously with this guy lately, he even had Gazetta interviewing him about the prospect of joining Inter.

Personally, on paper I don't like this buy since I believe a Treble winner should be strengthening their squad with the likes of Aguero or Tevez but after Diego Milito exceeded all expectations last summer, I'll keep my mouth shut now and trust Branca.

It's more about the role what bugs me with possible Cavani transfer than him not being a star name. We have Milito, Eto'o, Balotelli and Pandev. Where the hell is Cavani going to play? Or do they rate him as forward who can play on the flank? He has played as flanked forward for Uruguay in the World Cup. That way I can understand the interest but I still don't buy it that Cavani is worth over 20m€. And 20+ m€ acquisition as our 4th/5th choice in the attacking department? No, we're not that rich.

well, i'll be glad to have another striker than pandev, but QUALITY striker, not Cavani. I have never like Cavani, not in palermo, not in Uruguay. He is nothing special, there are other much better players that trebble winners can/should buy. Plus Cavani is pure striker, can play on the wings, but sucks even more than pandev.

Plus I'd rather see him (and Miccoli) raping Juve again when Palermo play against them.

10 years later :yao:
