Denzel Dumfries

If I had to criticize, it's his dribbling/creativity to beat his man. But man, I love this guy now and I was dead wrong about him.

Obviously Dumfries is very limited in some ways - he's not particularly fast like Hakimi, nor technically skilled like Cancelo. He's rarely going to beat his man 1-on-1 or whip in crosses like Maicon.

A player like Dumfries is always going to be a volume player. As long as he continues to put himself in the right places at the right time, he'll always get opportunities to make important contributions.

Thankfully, he's making the most of those opportunities which makes up for his deficiencies (for the most part). He's physically very strong, good in the air, a decent finisher, has a good gas tank and most importantly in this system, he's a willing runner and hard worker. He'll be a valuable asset to any team playing with wing backs.

We can't really ask more from him with regards to his offensive game. Sure, he might marginally improve his 1v1 finishing or his crossing but it's in defence where I think he can really improve - namely marking the right players / spaces as he has a tendency to get a little bit lost at times.

So far, considering his fee, he's a 8/10 signing.

I hope the fans have the same patience with Gosens. Completely different player to Perišić, but a good one also. It's just that having both Dumfries and Gosens on the flanks doesn't help because both of them are not creator not technical players who can help with build up. They are very good at attacking with speed and coming late in the box. This and the presence of Romelu should make Inzaghi look at a different style of play, but who knows...he is the coach and I trust him (for now ). We'll see what happens.

Yea, even I am less confidence in Gosens than Dumfries weirdly, but I am against the belief that they cannot start together cause they both make runs into the box, plus Gosens is actually better at tearing the opponents, not with dribbling but with 1-2, running at half space, and a better player to bounce the ball off. (Once he is up to speed, which I worry he might not ever) Even the way they enter the final third for goal threats are different, Dumfries is more physical domination attacking, and Gosens is more punishing out of position or catching off guard. This combination can mess up the opponents, plus Gosens has good deliveries too, just not shown at inter yet. Overall Gosens is very good team player, which FIF likes to call it a system player.

Lol they can give trouble to teams. They just played two serie b teams and only thing they have shown is nothing. Gossens can be good if you have somebody who can do 12s but inter has guys in midfield who only can run with the ball or cross. Dumfries can not do anything but run with the ball and shoot which would be good if it is going at goal.
