I once read this great quate can't remember who said it but here is is:

Those who don't risk don't reap great rewards

This to me is totally relevant here. Yes it might be a slight risk to sign chivu. But who is better than him who will be avalable in june. I can't think of any one.

To chivu would be a calculated risk and 1 worth taking.

Indeed a risk worth taking, only when Ferrari is out of the question because then we have nothing left in the tray to snatch that can potentially fix our prblems.

if inter a serious about chivu. all they have to do is keep an eye on him for the REST of the season and then go for it, he always has to pass a medical.

anyway id like this

Zanetti-Cordoba-Burdisso?-Chivu

but really, i would like Ze maria at lb and keep Favalli as backup.

Ze Maria would crap at the left back position, IMO. He's a right back, and he's not very versatile. The most he can play is the right midfield role. If Ze Maria was to play, then I see it J. Zanetti at left back, while Ze Maria plays right back. But, I don't like that, as J. Zanetti will be playing in a position where he is not very comfortable, although I'm sure he's quite capable, and this will be limiting his talent.

Regarding Chivu, it will be quite a smart move, but if we get him, then I want him to play centre back, alongside Cordoba, and not at the left back position. If we need a left back, then we should buy another one, like Dede, instead of playing Chivu there. But, I'm quite sure Favalli can do a good job there.

If we get Chivu, I'm pretty sure that our defense would look like this:

J.Zanetti----Cordoba----Luizao----Chivu

But what about the rumours about Evra/Dede......??

Why would we need luisau if we get chivu?? We don't need dede or evra either. We have potenza who will be better than both of them. ;)

Yeah? After 5 years? :D

In the meanwhile favalli can start and he can be the backupp or we could go

JZ-Cordoba-Burdisso-Chivu

;)

I really dont like getting a player only to ruin him and put him in a different position...

Now i know some would say Chivu could play LB,but why not get the best LB there is and put Chivu(if he is our man) where he belongs in the center

I gotta say that after watching Juve v Real, I'm not sure about Walter Samuel AT ALL anymore.

He was so clumsy! He gave away so many free-kicks. I don't know, maybe he's not the fenomeno we thought he was.

I think you need to take into the picture their salsa football style of play which sometimes results in the defence being left vulnerable. Furthermore he is not exactly surrounded by prodigy defenders to help him.

With that said he is also a bit to blame himself. Still it mustn't have been nice being bullied by his own fans on Bernabeu.

In my book he is a world class central defender who every team would be lucky to have!

Well said Gismo :star: . Salsa...I like that. :D

He is surrounded by horrendous defenders. Also, Real don't play defensively whatsoever. Did you see Raul Bravo's pass to Zalayeta, not even Nedved could've come with that assist!

Great defenders in serie A don't succees outside, while great strikers should. In italy, teams play defensively overall, so defenders aren't that exposed. However, strikers have to rely on their pace, skills and instinct to score goals in italy, most do good when they go outside.

That's why in my books, great serie A strikers are the best in the world while great defenders in LaLiga are the best in the world. I always regarded Ayaly as one of the best in the world, but now Terry/Ferdinad can take that honour. A defender has to work his behind off in LaLiga or EPL.

I rest my case your honour.

Adriano - #10
Your right Hamed. Defending in La Liga or the EPL is no walk in the park. The style of play there makes it really difficult for defenders to form good defensive units to stop the opposition.

Yeah, I also agree with Hamed. La Liga defenders are finished if Adriano someday goes there.

Samuel in inter?? it woul be the greates deal inter did this century.. :D

He is currently one of the best defenders IMO, and joining inter would give both inter & him great things..He is far better def in Italy then abroad and could drive inter back to the top if he joins.. :star:

The greatest deal this century is not buyin Nesta, Ronaldinho, Kaka.... :fero: :fero:

Samuel won't do much good. It's better to sign Barzagli or Bovo...

With all due respect to Kaka, I wouldn't have liked him to be here. I'm not kidding when I say this, but I will never say "My favourite player is Kaka." People would laugh at you, what if I wear a jersey with the name Kaka at the back, I don't want to be the recepients of rude jokes from pedestrians!

Brazilians have like six names to one person, couldn't he have chosen to go by his first, second, middle or last name?

Kaka is funny name. Shit is in finnish Kakka: For example, a centence: "Kaka is the future" is in finnish:"Kakassa on tulevaisuus" which is again translated: "Shit is the future"
