Dude, they are also after Casadei. They want him on loan or included in the Vlahovic deal. Why they need an unproven youngster, when they have Mireti and Fagioli? It's make no sense for them.
And Frattesi?! it's more logical for them to go straight after SMS, who will bring instant quality immediately, and the difference of the price won't be so big. But they will try to get Frattesi, not because he is so needed for them, but only to prevent him joining Inter.

CL is maybe 40m if you can't get to knockouts. Hard to believe they would splash half of that for one player.

Yeah but spending 20 on a player does not equal spending half that money on that player... For that very season it might be 8mio... So increasing your cost by 8 to 10 mio when your revenue increased by 40 is not that much out there...
Also according to all reports union made a profit this season even without CL so they have some room to spend..

Amortizations aside, they will be 20m poorer if they buy player for 20m. CL qualification can be one time thing for them so I seriously doubt they over double their transfer record.
