Does anyone have a translation of his goodbye post in English, please? I saw it on twitter but can no longer access it. Much appreciated.
“I would have liked to end my career in the team I’ve always supported. Now, I can finally say it,”
“But that wasn’t possible, unfortunately. Inter means family to me.
“A family like the one my wife and I chose and wanted to start in here, in the place where we grew up, loving this shirt and experiencing its joys and sorrows.
“A Family like the one consisting of all the members of Inter with whom we have worked day after day to take Inter back to where it belongs.”
“It was a journey of love, passion, dedication, courage and humility. Always and only for the good of Inter!
“It was such an exciting journey for me and my family and I’m sure it will be a part of our life that we will carry forever in our hearts.
“Thanks to those who have always supported and appreciated me, to those who have changed their minds and to those who haven’t… because you have all contributed to my professional growth and made me a balanced man in evaluations.
“Milano is just us … and I only know that one day I will take my son to the stadium and I will tell him…’.
“I hug you all tightly, Danilo”.

The chance of any of us seeing our late 90s is zilch, Inter is a hard mistress on the old heart

I think we should have one banter era level player to be in LGI. This guy is true Interista, he bled for us and many many years he refused to lose his spot in the team. Never wanted to leave us. Yea, he is mediocre player but why not, he is everything what Zlatan isnt, so I dig and respect this guy very much.

In that case, weirdly, Handa deserves to be in LGI more, even tho I think he was only serviceably good most of the time

Danilo was not world class player, not even close. Barley good enough to be an Inter player. But he was cheap and by his hard work he paid of every cent we spent on him. While we were throwing gold on other players that were worse then him.

Scored some important goals, and saved our goal in some important matches. I bet all Inter fans will remember him. All respect to the this lad.

He's one of those guys, who doesn't fit the bill LGI, nor does he need to be remembered as " just a former player". Goes into my own honorable mention column.

For me it depends on what kind of criteria we use. Both are always up for debate, both in terms of football and personal preference. For me D'Ambrosio belongs in LGI but not based on his football skills but based on his personality and love for Inter.

It is indeed clear that purely on football he should not even be mentioned in the same sentence as Zanetti, Samuel and Maicon. On the other hand, players like him are becoming more and more scarce, which may make it easier for us to appreciate such players.

He would've been good enough to play next to those names, but would never be a better defender or overall better player. Every team needs a D'Ambrosio, Darmian or Young. But a full team of players like this would be underwhelming for most of us

I really Inzaghi would have dropped De Vrij and played Danilo at RCB in the 2022 run in. We looked so much more solid with that line up. Even against fucking Liverpool. Not utilizing Danilo over De Vrij and rotating Sanchez in for Dzeko lost us that Scudetto IMO.

Handa was also fantastic goalkeeper. He is definitely LGI for me.

I love Saint Danilo but come on. Even Matrix is a bit borderline for me and he was much better than D’Ambrosio. An inter legend in his own right, sure, but not a general legend of the game.

If LGI's criteria was to be a legend of the game we'd have a handful or less of players in that sub-forum.

Guy was huge for us. I didn’t want him when he came in but def turned around on him. Would have much rather kept him for another season on lower wages then bringing De Vrij back.

I don’t know that I agree. Go check the LGI subforum and tell me who there isn’t remembered as a significant figure in footballing history. D’Ambrosio isn’t even a footnote, although loved and rightfully so by the inter faithful.
