C or Ć?

Zlatan's shirt had Ibrahimović on the back, while Dejan has Stankovic.
Marko's shirt says Arnautović, while Alen's says Stevanovic.

I am talking about the last letter in the names. They are all pronounced the same as far as I know, so why do some players choose to have the "´" and some not? Is it optional? Different countries?

Would someone who knows please help me out

C is pronounced differently to Ć in Slavian language. It should be Ć on all though, they probably don't care much about such a detail though.

Maybe that's true but I thought they should care, OK for Stevanovic but Dejan has played here a long time

I find it strange that they aren't bothered. My surname for example starts "Mc" whereas many would spell theirs "Mac". It irritates me when people get it wrong as though it is basically the same name there is a different history to both.
