The internet is gonna internet, i personally dont insult or cuss even if its not to be taken literal but people act and react differently and its hard to read intent in a post but its just meaningless back and forth, no one got shot so they will get over it.

Please understand guys that moderating the forum is something that myself and the other moderators do out of love for the forum. We are not compensated and we all have full time jobs, lives, families, etc. In many of these situations we are just doing our best to maintain civility in the forum and we do not have time to read through “insert forum member” last 50 posts to see when they said something a week ago that insulted you. The report function is there for a reason and we will continue to do our best to address situations as they arise.

Don't think for a second that I am unappreciative of the fact that you're doing this – whatever this is – on a voluntarily basis. That, however, is not a cop-out. If you have moderators on a site, moderators should be moderating.

A quick recap;
CC got his warning – I was astonished that was all it was, but there wasn't anything more that I could do or ask for.

He then restarts trouble and pulls the desparate and inlogical victim card because of my using of the phrase ”sucking dick” (post 3,747), and only after that do I begin getting personal, calling him stupid – because he's very clearly stupid, and he has at this point attacked me six or seven times. Calling someone stupid and it being punishable has never been a thing before on my 10 years on FIF, and it happens a hundred times a year on this website – you've even got moderators on your team who has (right or wrong) called out other users for being stupid or having stupid opinions. This time, for some reason, that was over the line, and I receive a half-assed, standardized and automated warning that stated that I could be at fault for any of four things, including baiting and trolling. This is right after the literal post where CC begins his baiting and trolling equating using the phrase ”sucking dick” to posting phedofilic content.
When I asked what I was being warned for, a mod told me that he was on vacation and that the matter would be looked into. ”The matter would be looked into” apparently then consisted of you, jumping in this thread with all the wherewithall and elegance of an elephant in a porcelaine shop in post #3751, shrugged your shoulders and asked what all the bother was about. This when the bother was clear as day and had been more than well-documented – in reports and posts themselves.

You proceed to call the trifle 'pointless', which can only stem from the moderator team having no clue at what is happening – the left hand not knowing what the right is doing. Imagine a scenario where he calls you less intelligent because of the color of your skin or your ethnicity – you'd be (rightly) fuming, and I have a hard time imagining a scenario where he isn't permabanned quicker than you can even spell racism. However, geniune bigotry aimed at me isn't a big enough deal to warrant much of anything, apparently.
And this is from a user who has a rich history of getting into fights with other users. Maybe there's a common demoninator here that could've been used to put two and two together, but apparently not.

In many of these situations we are just doing our best to maintain civility in the forum and we do not have time to read through “insert forum member” last 50 posts to see when they said something a week ago that insulted you.

If 'civility' – as in an user being direct in their language with other users – and peacekeeping being more important than, say, solving the problems at hand, then you have to ask yourself how big the importance of even having a moderation team is. You might as well just install a bot that finds and corrects swear words, if that's the sole reason for the existence of the moderation team. It works doubly as well if you're not bothered with trying to differentiate between bigotry and calling someone stupid.

Also this wasn't about '50 posts'. This was 'only' during 7 or 8 posts where my character, language and nationality was unprovokingly attacked out of the blue because he disagreed with my position on Christian Eriksen (who he then proceeded to mock, by the way). Now, I don't particularly care about that or take those sorts of things to heart, but when blatant racism is regurgitated again and again from a bumbling idiot, that seems like a problem that shouldn't be ignored. If a moderation team conisting of more than a handful of people (correct me if I'm wrong, but the point stands anyway) can't handle reading that and doing something about it because of time constraints or what have you, then something isn't as it should be. That kind of toxicity will permate – and it has.

Nobody is perfect, myself included, however at a certain point consistent arguing is just a detriment to the forum.

'Detriment'?! Where else should this be taken, then? We're literally in the 'Bannings and Suspensions' thread, and giving me a reason or some sort of coherent answer in private messages apparently wasn't worth the moderation team's time. Why do you think I deleted my posts after I reported him or had instigations with him? – so people didn't have to look at this stupid quarrel in a ('a' is in literally one) thread that had nothing to do with it.

Also, thatdude, I'm not trying to label you personally responsible, just so you know. But I don't know what other way or where else to direct this.

Anyway, that is it for me. Do with it what you want.

Logging off and staying logged off. This place has become too disheartening, but that's a wholly different discussion.

Don’t even bother trying to argue your case. They ban me for 2 weeks for just speaking my mind, some of them unfortunately are just a bunch of power hungry losers who always play the voluntary card yet are quick to ban people for the smallest of cases.

It’s a fucking forum, there’s going to be disagreements and it can get heated at times. You should only ban people for the most extreme cases. But anyways that’s my last post on this ghost town, congratulations for losing yet another member from posting on here. Good luck to the 19 members left on here

I don't know why they banned you, I looked up your posts and got surprised. None of your posts sound like rule breaking, unless they deleted the post they found inappropriate. It's weird they never banned me for insulting some members here. Perhaps they thought I was right

anyway, it's sad that our ranks are thinning... bye kurt, you will be missed!

And then people wonder why new posters don't stick around for a long period of time and this place gets stale with toxicity

I see a lot of of finger pointing with little self reflection. I’m sure all of you were absolutely faultless in the situations that led to your banning. I’m not going to argue with you, hopefully you take some inspiration from that.

If you do not want to frequent the forum that’s your decision, but it’s not going to change our stance as moderators. Nobody likes to be banned I get it, if you don’t like the rules or the way they’re enforced then there are plenty of other options out there to converse with other Inter fans.

Unfortunately, I'm not civil enough to take the high road that @thatdude has amiably taken.

Without getting too far into my personal philosophy for forum moderation, I think most of you know my general approach. I try to be laissez-faire and let people work out things between themselves. I don't like banning members. I try not to give out infraction points. We're a small community, forums outside of Reddit are not widely popular, and given that we're all Inter fans my preference would be for everyone to get along. So yes, I always veer on the side of inaction. I acknowledge that it's not a perfect strategy and perhaps the incident between OC and Candreva's Crosses is an example of a situation where a stronger fist would have helped calm things down sooner.

@_OC_ I agree with a lot of your post. If we're playing the "who's more at fault" game, I agree that it's @Candreva Crosses. I'll get into that more in a minute. Now, I have two thoughts on your recent behavior and response to the situation. I understand and agree that my initial moderation of the situation was not sufficient, as noted above. I had tried issuing you both a single warning to get the conversation to stop. It didn't work. As noted, I was on vacation getting notifications to my phone and didn't feel like dealing with it. These are all areas I would identify as my fault. However, I still don't think you handled the situation well. You know that CC is a shit-slinging troll who shouldn't be taken seriously. I don't understand why you felt the need to continue to engage with him, further escalating the situation after the initial warnings were issued. You knew it would be a zero sum game. I would also argue that your decision to call him "the worst poster on the forum" was what escalated the situation and led to him insulting you/Danish people. You should have walked away and avoided engaging after Universe's urging to end the conversation.

I don't want you to leave the forum, OC. I value you as a poster. You have good insights. But if this is the straw that breaks the camel's back for you, so be it. I stand by thatdude's decision, because something needed to be done to lower the forum's temperature. Like I said, I recognize where I could have done better here. The fact you seemingly don't recognize where you could have done better - after a week off - is disappointing.

@Candreva Crosses, as many of you know, is the reincarnation of a previous user, Alan. Alan was banned for similar behavior to what CC is currently exuding. This will not be tolerated moving forward. However, that does not give forum member's the right to make the following, unprompted posts:
You impress everyday with how retarded you are, like you find new depths of retardness you sink too.

If retardness was an ocean you'd be the mariana trench.
Simply because you disagree with one of his opinions. It's called baiting, and infractions will be given for it.

@kurt0411 If I was as power hungry as you implied, you would have been banned months ago because you provide zero value to this forum. All you do is gloat about Conte and try and bait other forum members. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

@Sawyer I have no recollection of what you're talking about, but if you would like to discuss something further you know where to find me.

Don't really like to get into these kind of arguments but it's seriously childish and sad to blame mods and "toxicity" of this forum. Don't insult other people, if you don't like someone here, there's an ignore button that you can click and their posts will magically disappear and you wouldn't have to read it. Its really as simple as that.

In the end of the day it's just a fucking forum, it's not that deep.

@_OC_ someone degraded and shit on my country and I was hugely insulted but the mods did fuck all about it, in fact I noticed some mods interacted with me differently.

What can ya do mate. I've moderated forums my whole life, you have/need a simple rule set and abide by it, don't have favourites and treat everyone the same. It isn't hard.

I've also been targeted by a mod for a joke comment when other people were saying shocking things on other threads..

What can ya do mate.

It's a sure sign as to why people use the WhatsApp group and not the forum.

It seems you still have a problem with that. I would have appreciated it if you had approached me in private but since you decided to take it into public let's make some things clear.

About the post that you found offensive about your country. You reported it instantly as you have every right to do and it's recommendable for every member to do so rather than retaliating when they read something offensive. We reviewed it as we were obliged to and we decided to give a warning since it was from a member who had a clean record till then. Since then, that person hasn't caused other problems again. You thought it wasn't enough and you wanted us to delete its content. I understand you found it disturbing but the forum has a policy against deleting posts. Instead we choose to give warnings and infraction points.

As for the interaction between you and me that made you feel targetted. As i explained to you at the time i used the post in order to send a message to the entire forum because things were getting out of hand with insults. You weren't singled out or targetted like you want to believe. You say it was just a friendly banter and a joke. I believe you. But the thing is a post beneath yours used the exact same wording to respond to the "opposite side". What you consider a joke it can be seen differently by another person. If i did nothing it would be like such a wording would be acceptable to use addressing other members. Then for a reason you believe i ignored other posts who had been much worse than yours. You even tagged me to see them. I hadn't missed them. I had actually given them infractions even before i saw your post. Just because we don't make something public it doesn't mean it hasn't been addressed.

I was assigned as a mod recently and i am still learning. I may make mistakes. But i have never played favorites and never will. I have actually given infractions to members i like and posts i agreed with because they were using inappropriate language. And this is the case for every other mod of this forum. Sadly the decisions we make won't be accepted by everyone and that's life. We just do our best to keep this place civil and open to different opinions with as less interference from our side as possible.

I've made many a post on this forum praising mods for the bullshit you guys put up with and I've even admitted myself should have been banned twice from these forums but haven't.

This thread/section is called banning and suspensions so it's appropriate to discuss here? I'm never one for seeing one side of a coin and will give my opinion and thoughts for both sides.

I do not mean any disrespect toward a mod(s) in my post but what I said is my truth.

Anyway I apologise if my post caused offence or upset towards mods hate me or love me I have nothing but love for you guys.

Maybe a suggestion would be to lock/delete this section. As said not everything is made public.. so why have a public section.

Wasn't alan the same user that got banned for calling black people different (I don't want to repeat his nonsense).

If so it explains so much, and is a huge slip up from your side mods

he's been a stain on this forum since he made the CC account. I think the situation with @_OC_ escalated to where it did is because he, like others, are tired of how CC behaves towards other users. He's a baiter and a shit thrower who adds no value to the forum when most of his time is spent trying to egg others on.

You thinking my opinions provide zero value to the forum is exactly that your opinion. The same way I think you wouldn’t know anything about modding a forum if it slapped you in the face. A big reason this place is in the state it’s in is because of mods like you whether you’re man enough to admit that or not. So go ahead and do the only thing you know how to do

I’m a pretty laid back guy and I don’t really believe in shit slinging, but I do believe in honesty. Dude, you’ve made some takes I agree with on here but by and large I can only remember you fighting with people here and calling people names and shit. No one wants to see that. Just let it go; try to work it out behind the scenes if you can’t. Your current presence in these forums is an annoyance. Take some time off and if you want to come back eventually with a different mindset about engaging with other posters— sure, why not. You can have takes that are right or wrong. It doesn’t matter, just help keep it a civil space.

I'm late to the party here, but I've been an on and off poster here for almost 8 years, and I've always found the moderation to be good. Sure, conversations can get heated and maybe even toxic at times, but that's the flip side of having a laissez-faire attitude of the mods, and I'd rather that than power-hungry mods with an overactive banhammer.

Side note: I know that the internet is not real life, but anyone with real-life experience of managing people or just maintaining discipline will tell you that it's rare that there's a decision you take that won't have at least one person thinking that you're wrong.

Meh, you don't even need real life. Just check a match thread on how a manager is assessed.

@Tom80 has been banned for repeated insults against Inter, as well as the members of this forum. He's clearly not an Inter fan, and insulting Inter is infraction-worthy per the forum's rules.
