Mexicans need some spark from somewhere and this is where i think they will lose the game because Argentina will kill it in the second half and might even score on the counter again..

Nice win by Argentina, but they didnt look as confident. GREAT GREAT goal by Rodrigues. Given the circumstances, thats probably the best goal of the WC until now. Tevez and Messi once again showed some magic.
Heinze deserved 2 red cards in this game. But was lucky.
Congrats to Argentina, they were certainly the better team in the extra time.

Why it didn't finished draw? I love penalties. At least Argentina won, what I hoped for.
Oh, and great match :)

Argentina deserved it in the end because of the goal ruled out for a non existent off side at the very last minute. What a performance by Mexico though, full of heart. I feel for them, they really stepped it up.

Curiosity: what were the fans shouting everytime the goalkeeper was kicking the ball back in play?

My brother insists they were saying 'puto', but that doesn't seem likely to me!

Great goal by Rodriguez indeed. Argentina didn't feel as sharp in this game and Mexico really gave it to them.

I think there are few cracks in the defence. Heinze was horrible today and Scaloni wasn't terrible, but not reliable either.

Ayala is simply the difference and continues to amaze me. It seems his presence is enough for the backline to feel secure.

Great to see Burdisso on the bench and I hope he makes it for the next game.

that game proves how imporant Burdisso truly is, for the first time in the entire tournament, the defence looked shaky because Heinze had to play a true centre back role with no Burdisso, 4-4-2 doesn't suit Argentina or any other South American country.

Scaloni is a clown. Rodriguez is lucky he scored, otherwise it was the bench for him if Argentina made it to the QTRS.

Messi or Tevez need to play with Crespo, not Saviola against Germany.

the ref was a clown all right, Marquez almost king hit Ayala twice and no card was produced, not to mention the perfectly fine goal of Messi's in the last minute.

Rodriguez should be dropped even after the damn goal. Definately agree with Saviola droppage too, anyway Germany is looking hot, my moneys on them.

Mexico started off the game with alot of pace which is what got them the lead, pace isn't Argentinas game especially when Messi and Tevez are on the bench. Crespo's goal was a bit fortunate, but you can either say it was good luck for Argentina or bad luck for Mexico.

Messi was on fire as soon as he came on and Tevez was very lively too. Everytime Mexico went down Argentina's right flank there was danger because Scaloni is as secure as an Asian F1 driver. I forget who it was, but someone owned the shit out of him.

Maxi scored arguably the goal of the tournament, too bad it was him and not Riquelme or Messi (that would've been special). Riquelme was complete garbage on the 2nd half of the game making mispasses everywhere, and when Aimar came on he dropped back and was pretty invisible.

-------Crespo--------
Tevez---------Messi
---Riquelme/Aimar-------
Sorin--------Cambiasso
----Mascherano-------
-Heinze-Burdisso-Ayala-
-----Abbondanzieri-----

Is what I would do for the game against Germany (I think it's Germany). Argie fans (Catanha), would you start Aimar over Riqi for the next game? I mean it can't be that much worse than the performance he gave today...what do you think?

you can't take the playmaker of a team out this late in a World Cup, I don't think Riquelme does well against many Latin American countries who play the man marker role, Torrado stuck on him like glue, but against European nations they just don't know how to man mark him well, so Riquelme starts against Germany if it was up to me.

Only changes I would make is Lucho comes in for Maxi Rodriguez because Lucho doesn't go missing in 89 minutes of a match and defends better. Tevez comes in for Saviola because Tevez doesn't hope when trying to dribble past players, he uses pure skill and can actually win the ball well as well. Oh and ofcourse bringing back Nico ahead of Scaloni, if Nico isn't fit, still play a back three and take Ayala to right of the three, Milito in the centre & Heinze on the left.

Gonna be huge against Germany, I'm still not over 1990.
