i won't stop believing until we're mathematically out
Oddly optimistic of you. Personally I'm satisfied that we kept it at a respectable 0-2.
We're getting Conte's second Chelsea year while having won jack shit before.
Pretty much this. In addition to his football being far less successful than the previous year, his own personality or commitment to the job has obviously been compromised as well. Next thing you know, he's going to be texting Lukaku to tell him he doesn't want him anymore and he'll instruct Marotta to spend €80m on Morata.
All jokes aside, I'm close to flipping as well. As I discussed with Fitzy (I love our private chats
), I've avoided the idea of sacking him. There are always difficulties whenever you sack a coach and bring in a new guy, especially mid-season.
There's always issues of squad compatibility, tactical adjustments, morale etc. and in this case, we also have to consider the enormous financial implications of sacking Conte and replacing him (presumably with Allegri). It's just a massive fucking headache, so I've just avoided the idea completely.
I am however, at a point where I'm starting to think it should be considered seriously by the management - and I'm certain they have entertained the idea also.
It's not too late to bring in Allegri. Unlike other sackings in the past decade, we're still at a place where a coach could very realistically compete for the league. I like to believe Allegri is tactically astute and adaptable enough to work with the squad he would inherit - a squad which in spite of its flaws, is still vastly superior to almost every other team in the league.
Allegri is also a far more reasonable and level-headed human being than Conte. Working with the understanding of a strategic budget would be much easier with Allegri than Conte who is so fixated on old, expensive EPL trash.
It really isn't too late to do the switch and the more I think about it, the more I'm slowly convincing myself despite my previous reluctance.
This is all of course, entirely based on the reasonable assumption we're bringing Allegri. At a stretch I could be convinced to gamble on a young up-and-comer like De Zerbi.. However if we reveal ourselves to be truly broke by taking some budget option like Donadoni or Delio Rossi, then I fucking give up.
