As Tim said, Recoba is unfortunately a very inconsistent player. But he has been very consistent last season under Zac. Hopefully Mancio can bring the best out of him like Zac did. And hopefully, the new coach/physio will bring an end to his consistent injury problems.

What magic? You mean the one that Recoba pulls off once in every 10 games? Although those moments were an absolute delight to watch, i would appreciate if Recoba does his magico moves more often during the season.

If it was that simple, he'd be the world player of the year. But again, Recoba's the kind of person who sleeps for 89 mins and for that 1 minute he's awake, he comes up with something special and wins you the game. It's a demanding job and only the gifted are capable of these things.IMO, Recoba is the best player in the world when on form.But when off form, well at least, he's better than me

It is essentially, that simple. I am not asking him to play consistent, high-level football for 90 mins in every game of the season. All i am asking for, is that he puts in more effort to become the player that he should rightly be. Last season was an indication that he realises time is running out, and if he is to retire as a great player, he had better start putting in more effort to prove it.

But the memories of past seasons remain to haunt us (or at least myself). His inconsistencies have been a nightmare to watch. Thus, i am really sceptical about Recoba's true commitment to the club. Whilst i have doubts about his desire to well and truly play his best for Inter, i have never ever doubted his talent.

In short, i am not asking Recoba to become a Capitano. All i am asking for, is that he raise his level of play more often during a season. I am sure his particpation in matches would then involve more than just holding on the ball. After all, on his best days, hardly anybody can be as good as he is. Now, that's the Recoba i want to see more of.

Recoba seeking improvements

Talented Internazionale forward Alvaro Recoba has stated his desire to put last season's injury nightmare behind him ahead of the new campaign.
The Uruguayan has been singled out for praise by new Nerazzuri boss Roberto Mancini and is clearly keen to repay the faith shown in him by his latest paymaster.

''Mancini's words flatter me because they arrive from a person who knows a lot about football,'' conceded Recoba.

''I hope to be lucky because last season was very difficult because of the number of physical problems I endured.

''This is the reason I gave up the Copa America, I needed a break and now I hope to have the summer training without difficulties.''

Mancini was only officially unveiled this week, but the former Lazio chief seems to have made a positive early impression.

''I like Mancini's view of football,'' continued Recoba. ''I think he is right for a big team like Inter.

''He likes attacking and he's just a little worried by opponents.''

In the past, yes, Recoba was very inconsistent.If we are to base our opinion of him because of past seasons, then, we'd think that he's a very lucky man to still be in Inter's first team. However, in this past season(03-04), he has shown that he can improve on his consistency. It certainly was a joy to watch Recoba being himself and given a free role often. Probably, Cuper's defensive tactics were the cause for his swagger and style to deteoriate.And when the time came for him to step up and play with more attacking menace, he found it hard to adjust. Let's hope Mancini builds on Adi-Chino for next season for Chino's sake and to our benefit

Recoba is 28, he knows he only has 2-3 years left in top flight to achieve something of important. Under the guidance of Mancini, I hope we see the talent he posseses, consistently.

I think many people are too harsh in their critics on Recoba... he always has some slight injuries that he has to put up with every season... when he is at his best, he is the best striker, or trequartista in the world... i hope this season will be more solid than the others, and he has said that he doesn't feel any pain for now...let's hope it stays on like that... because we need a player like him...

Unfortunately, due to the amount of world class strikers we have on our team it's hard to predict or imagine how big of an impact that Recoba will have on our team even if we cut down the size of our depth chart by getting rid of Ventola & Kallon. For me, we have 4 forwards that are good enough to start for any top club in the world - those players being Vieri, Adriano, Martins and Recoba. It'll be hard for them because all of them are "stars" and you won't be able to keep all of them happy at once. I for one think that Recoba is the only real seconda punta on the team, his creativity and talent is unique on this team. Him and Adriano could make a very leathal partnership, but we all know this won't happen from the start of the season. The only way i can see this happening is if Vieri is in terrible form, then Mancio will have no other choice but to bench him.

Back to the main topic, Recoba. He's getting up there in age and has been an Inter player for 7 years now. Looking back at 97 when he made his debut he was only 21 and even then he had enough talent to be one of the world's greatest players. It's time for him to put up or shut up now, he's got enough experience under his belt now and the talent has never been questioned. We will soon find out if he's the real deal or just a showboating loser, the story about Chino isn't quite over yet but the latter is a strong possibility judging from his past seasons to forget.

Recoba admits mental fatigue

InternazionaleInternazionale star Alvaro Recoba has admitted he has not been feeling himself since returning from international duty with Uruguay.

The South American ace had been a regular under manager Roberto Mancini prior to his trip, but is now out of the line-up after returning to Italy.

Recoba has found getting a good night's sleep hard to come by, but stated he is not injured and is available to play when Mancini comes calling.

"Since I returned from Uruguay I haven't been 100 percent," said Recoba. "I haven't slept much and when I have I have not done it well.

"It's not a physical problem because this year I haven't missed a single training session. I am lacking mental freshness.

"I have to admit that Mancini has been true to me but it's normal that I don't like being out of the team.

"I'm only calm when I think that only two rounds of the championship have been played and that I have a lot of time to regain the time I have lost."

These ppsychological problems recoba is having have to deal with Uruguay, not us. Unfortunately, it will affect us if hes not into the game 100%, lets hope once in Italy he can just concetrate on Inter.

Well Recoba have always had some psychedelically problems. And that is the main reason why he always is so unstabel... He simply can't stand up to the pressure that it on him. Because moste people have to huge Expectation.

Recoba is an ideal example of a player who is completely in a wrong team. He would be a huge star in some smaller team in Italy. If Chino played in La Liga, he would be really superstar. I´m sure about that. He has even said that himself, too. Barca before Ronaldinho would have been ideal for him. In Spain there is a space upfront. That is all Recoba needs.

But I´m so happy he is still with us. Even he hasn´t have so easy every now and then. And now this psychological problem. Let´s just hope he starts to shine more often. I really don´t know much more fascinating sight than cheerful smiling Chino after his marvellous goal.
