Gilardino is better than the overhyped Folcao

IF Branca has to sign a player from Genoa due to some unknown relationship, then Gilardino is the only player that I want.

No Kucka, no Luca Antonelli, no Borriello pls

Two ways to look at this, assuming Icardi is the undisputed starter I expect him to be:
1) His backup is a like-for-like player, someone who would make sure we don't miss Icardi if he's suspended or injured, someone who could fit directly into the system without changing our playing style.
2) A different type of player, gives us good tactical options to change a game midway through the match.

Of course, there's secret option 3 which is to get someone who can bench Icardi, but I don't see the point in that.

So, of the two options, Gila seems to be an option 2 player (which I personally prefer). Put him on when we're chasing a goal, dump a bunch of crosses into the box, and he'll score. Then just have him hold up the ball and waste time, I think he'd be a good signing.

His header, positioning, and even overhead kick is what any striker can dream of.

He might be a bit old, but experience comes with age. He scored a lot of goals last few seasons as well, hes at the top of his game at the moment.

Latest rumor is we are swapping two pieces of trash in Alvarez and Schelotto for him, of course anyone with a right mind would do it!

I personally cannot believe Genoa would fall for this!

Schelotto is not that trash. I doubt Genoa would buy him, if he was. That goal against Milan alone was great, and shows he has poaching skills too.

Still remember his overhead goal against us. Dependant on the price but I'm happy with this one. Icardi is still too raw to be a certain starter. Gilardino will either make him better or make us realize we wasted our money. Its win-win for us, a win-lose for Icardi/Belfodi

Milito? The guy is injured for a very long time, and might not reach his form again. Also, the guy is getting old, so we have to replace him at some point.

That leaves us with Palacio and Icardi.

Yes, Palacio is good, but hes going to be Icardis striking partner most probably, so we need a backup for Icardi.

Whichever way you look at it, 2 strikers or 1 striker formation, Palacio and Icardi will both probably play at the same time. Our striker department is looking ridiculously thin.

If we can get a cheap deal with Gilardino, eh then why not.

In fact, I would gladly accept Rocchi for another season as a backup for Icardi.

I was hoping Cassano and Gilardino can form a lethal forward partnership like Sampdoria Duo a few years ago. However, we can only have one of Pazzini and Cassano last year. And now, we can only have Gilardino after Cassano is gone.
