Not really. This kid is more of a deeplying playmaker of sorts, but with good defensive skills. Benassi is more of a box-to-box midfielder. He doesn't have the defensive skills this kid has. Nor is he as comfortable in possession. He's a far better goal-scoring threat though. You could play Gag in front of the defense. At Atalanta he only has Kessie and Kurtic to help him out in the midfield. Neither one of them is particularly defensive.

As i've said. I'm only basing this off a small sample size, but what i've seen makes me excited. He has a lot of composure.

As for getting Benassi for cheap? Torino are asking for 100m for Bellotti (well, that's his buy-out clause). There is a good chance they would expect a lot for Benassi too.

I think that Shaun is right. Pioli wanted a registra and maybe he intends to deploy Gagliardini as one.
Benassi is similar to Brozovic, but the latter is better for me.

Not if we're our usual selves and decide to quadruple the kid's wage to 2,5-3M right off the bat ala Kondogbia. (he now makes what, 500k?)

Hence the word STAY mediocre. The guy never impressed me with Southampton or the French national team, and he can't even get in the match day squad at United.

If we want to get better this isn't what we need. Thank god it appears Suning understand this and we aren't going to sign Leiva, and we're getting rid of Melo.

I don't necessarily see losing Mourinho's favor as a sign of a bad player. (See KdB). Also Schneiderlin was one of the best, if not the best, DMs in England in his final season at Southampton.

I'm also curious whether Gag's and Palacio's deals are somehow connected, financially. Maybe we're paying so much for Gagliardini because we ask an artificially inflated price for Palacio to help our books? For example, his real value would be around 1M or even free because of the wages, but we make a deal for him for 5M, we then add 4M to Gagliardini's transfer fee, but that's amortised in our books spread on the years of his contract, which I imagine would be 4 at least. Maybe the talks about sending Atalanta's way some of our primavera players is another way to inflate the fee? Dunno, I'm just speculating.

BTW Atalanta are smart, with the money they're going to buy Orsolini from Ascoli and probably other promising Italian youngsters from B. He was previously linked with us. Or maybe we have a hand in that?

According to CdS, he'll earn 600k till June and then he'll sign a new contract till 2021 earning 1,5m/year+bonuses.

It's true that players may fall out with certain managers for certain reasons. I find it pretty damning though that they were lacking balance in the midfield and he still couldn't find his way onto the pitch. Instead Mourinho used Fellaini who's not a DM and an aging Carrick.

I would understand the Schneiderlin argument more if he had fallen out with Mourinho like DeBruyne did. However, Mourinho has had nothing but nice things to say about him while playing him 0 minutes in the prem.

It's not like he hasn't had his chances to prove he deserves a shot, played in two EL games from the start. Just not good enough. Hence my comment about staying mediocre. I'm not sure Gagliardini is the answer, but I know Lucas and Gustavo on loan are the types of moves we've made in the past that haven't turned out well for us. At least we're trying something new.

i'm pretty confident that this time the deal will be done because the chinese have already paid 200m euro and they are taking part in all the decisions and both fassone and mirabelli are working and taking orders from them , i'm not too keen on fassone but if the reports are true than mirabelli is really a hard worker, he is always scouting new players and talking to their agents just like recently he did with keita , i repeat again if the reports are true .

if i come to the transfer strategy , the transfer budget of this mercato is 0 and even after the funding i don't think SES will spent like sunning but it doesn't matter, we already have a core of good young players we just need a few good additions and we will be good too go .

We had worse in the past. Just remember the Strama season. Silvestre, Rano,Naga,Pereira,Schelotto,Mudingayi,Gargano etc. If that team didn't make you fall into depression i doubt anything can. I have been an Inter fan since 1998 but i had stopped watching Inter matches after February of that season for the sake of my sanity.

I think Wobblz is right, we did that price inflation trick with Ansaldi & Laxalt going to Genoa. Seeing nowadays prices, I don`t have a problem with that. We want to make sure that if we selll, we don`t sell cheap like other times. Added value scheme
