Idk this isn't bigger. WWC was huge last time around for us Muricans... this time no hype, and our overall quality of play has improved.
Honestly women's soccer IS entertaining. Our women's team could beat quite a few low level mens team. I think that's pretty dang impressive.

I'm pretty sure they have lost against men's college teams in the states. As you said the gap is just too much in athleticism and coordination.
