They’ve been pretty bad lately. They lost 2-0 today to Cadiz. Not saying it’ll be easy but we should be able to get at least a draw you would think.

We got this... right?

With our track record in spain, then no! Especially as we don’t look good up front the past two games at all.

Don’t be surprised if this goes out in penalty shootout… and then we have Martinez just saying

Regardless I don’t see many goals it’s going to be low scoring very tight 1-0 or at best 2-1 game.

Inter are on cloud 9 - they just keep winning and seem unbeatable.
You all know, there will be this one game that will put everyone back on the ground.. I just hope it won't be on the 13th of march....

When I saw they were playing Cádiz before playing us, I muttered an expletive. Granted, I mutter expletives after lots of things (stubbing my toe, hearing my phone ring, seeing my brother just sent me a text, etc.) but I was not a fan of seeing them playing a relegation team before playing us. Seemed like a prime game for them to have an easy 90 minutes before the real challenge next.

I didn't see that game, but I can only wonder how much Cholo must've rotated the side for them to be able to lose that game. Relegation brings out the spirit in teams, I understand, but Atleti still have top-4 to play for, which is not at all guaranteed right now, so those are three points they needed to play for, and losing 2-0 to 18th place in La Liga seems particularly wretched. Must've been an uninspired performance. Not that it changes how they're going to play against us on Wednesday, if anything they've squarely put all their eggs into that basket to try and salvage this season in any way for themselves. I don't imagine there's many takeaways to have from today going into Wednesday, other than just to say that everything points to us being better than Atleti and now we need to finish them off to justify that.

Sommer

Pavard Vrij Bastoni

Dumfries Barella Hakan Mikhi Dimarco

Toro Sanchez

Sanchez has been good lately, i would start him instead if unfit Thuram

I was also this kind of fan one time, that compared the past results to make a prediction of what could happen. But we have beat a lot of negative records recently. When was the last time we won at Bologna for example? we can't predict things based on the past, because this team is very special and i doubt that we ever had such a great team. Only the one from 2010 could compete. So it's logical that getting a good result in Spain is much more realistic compared to one time.

We've also won 13 games in a row. Of course that doesn't guarantee #14 is incoming (we also don't need to make it 14 necessarily...), but there's really no more appropriate time to have confidence in this club than right now in this moment. We've literally won every game we've played in 2024. Nobody else can say that.

I feel like Atletico won’t go for it from the off; it’s not their style. They will probably sit tight and wait for us to come out. But we don’t have to do anything and they will have to make a move eventually. Being able to counter attack is massive here, which is why need Dumfries and Thuram from the off.

Yeah but each match has its own story. Atleti lost to Cadiz but beat Real. We beat Milan 5-1 comfortably but hardly beat Hellas Verona 2-1. Teams come into certain matches more prepared physically and mentally and certain details could change the course of matches.

Of course but honestly this Madrid team is a little suspect too. They should have gone to overtime against Leipzig.

Anything can happen in knockout football. However, we should be going through against Atletico based on our current form and ability.

Atletico is a strange club, for all these years with all this money they still havent changed Simeone with someone more attacking style. Most paid coach in Europe!!!

You are visiting Cadiz, they have scored 18!! Goals in 27 games and you insert a 5 man backline and lineup consisting your best men, have only 4 attempts on goal and you still get beat 2-0. Humiliating! This was their worst performance of the year according to player ratings and newspapers.

Athletic Bilbao is now right down their necks, if they win today they will be only 2pts back . Atletico could miss out on UCL too.

Anyway, we have to progress. It will be scandalous to let them get away with this. Should have buried them at Meazza ffs. Markoooo !!!

Atletico can beat anyone at home, let's not delude ourselves.
I expect something like the game vs Sosiedad away. They will try to score early and we will be on a backfoot for most of the time. I hope for a draw.

Lautaro scored in a penalty shootout for Argentina, so I believe in him to score if we get to penalties.

Only question is, Acerbi or De Vrij? and Dumfries or Darmian?

For them, Griezman is key, not only in terms of goals but creativity and hard-working in midfield, pretty sure Simeone will play mind-games till the start of the game. But well, the best Atletico we have seen this season was with Grizzy being they're best player. So i prefer him to stay injured till Barcelona game they have next weekend.
