hated him as a player..... and who has he developed that has been promoted to the senior team? Motta should be the next coach if we don't win the league title this season and Chelsea doesn't panic sign him

Tho if Chelsea pays us to take Inzaghi that would be sweet

its super, super rare for primavera coach to go to the first team except as an interim. Strama was our last one AFAIK.

Meanwhile i liked Chivu and hated Motta, but i would take him as coach

You just need a bridge between Primavera and first team - currently we fulfill that with a lot of hit and mix loans. The problem with a loan... is that we can't play the player if we need. Yes, I do wonder what has prevented us from registering by now. There is reportedly just a 1.5 million entry fee. There are rumours that they might not have a stadium to play in, but I seriously doubt that this is the main problem.

We already saw that additional talent from Juventus that emerge for this second team. It could be Atalanta's shortly.

The exposure of playing with adult professional footballer is much better than playing in primavera.

This allows us to directly regulate the playing time, and the players will have to adapt to the pressure.
Instead of going out on loan till the contract expires due to the gap from the primavera.

Aside from the motivation aspect, a player on loan to a relegation candidate team may not do much because he is afraid of being relegated, whereas if the talent is performing well, there is motivation to be promoted to the first team.

At the very least, we may be able to avoid paying the development charge, also known as the purchase option, with the counter buyback fee for our youngster who is going out on loan.

All the big clubs that generate quality youth players does have a reserve squad anyway. Bayern, Porto, Ajax, Barca, and so on.

Honestly I dunno. As you say, the two things discussed historically are the fee and the venue. I could believe a venue is a bit of a challenge but surely its not an unsolvable one - in terms of the fee, with even a fraction of long termism, i think we can easily see how it pays for itself.

Maybe we dont want to spend the money on the infrastructure/costs? You'd be talking about another set of coaches, another 25 players on probably £150-250k a year, you're talking probably another £5-10m a year and IIRC I think I saw something once that said our academy cost about £10m a year, but that was a while ago
