Anyways, I finally got the chance to watch the full match last night. (Part of my superstition that I never/rarely watch Derby live)
I personally think it was a very balanced match, with neither side dominant over each other. However, it was our will, determination, and a little bit of luck (Abate's slip) that got us the win. You can just see in the players' eyes that by God victory will be theirs at the end of the night. I think Ranieri deserves more praise for this rather than fielding up the correct team, or making the right substitution. It really baffles me considering I really thought CR was a Goddamn cheesy pussy. Remember that bit before the Coppa Italia final in 2010 when he made his players watch Gladiator to motivate them?
I have a very different opinion regarding the best player of the match. Judging from comments, it seems that you guys picked JZ, and Gazzetta picked Samuel but mine is definitely Lucio. Did not put a foot wrong and was just a complete 8055 all around. Nothing got past him. Rano should really learn from Lucio's aggression.
I thought Pazzini did well too. In fact, except for the goal, I think he did better than Milito. Pazzo held the ball well, and provides the team some breathing space. It was a good target man performance from him. Extra points considering he's not physically that big.
Last night should really be the confirmation that the Inter side that we all love is back. It was not spectacular, it was not dominant, but it got the job done. I hope the players do not let go of this feeling and continue our march.
