Transfer policy at Roma is on principle similar to ours with the cataclysmic difference that their opportunism doesn't really consider "fit". They'll bring anyone that will get people to talk about Roma, as a result of having American owners who typically like marketability above sporting success.

It's not as if Mourinho has a budget to spend here. He can only accept that having more good players is better than not. And he just has to work with what they give him.

Florentino Perez via leaked audios in 2017:

"When Özil arrived to Madrid, he had an Italian girlfriend. Mourinho told him: 'Mesut, if I were you I'd leave your girlfriend. She slept with half of the Inter and Milan squads and the technical teams as well'. The next day, Özil dumped her."

I don't think Mourinho knows how divided the fanbase is on this. I'm happy Lukaku went somewhere else and not back to Inter. Thank fucking God

I'm not going to be mad about him choosing Roma lol

Mourinho has worked in the Premier League, LaLiga and Serie A, but his respect for Italian coaches remains unrivalled:
“I continue to say this, and some might not agree, but Italian football is the most tactical and that is why Italy is the country with the best coaches.” - Mou

This also explains why players like Evan Ndicka are struggling to adapt to Serie A after coming from the Bundesliga:
Ndicka played in a three-man defence, but in a team with very different ideas. He has confidence when the others next to him are playing well. He is quick, but not very good in individual duels.

Houssem Aouar is the same, he is very good on the ball, but off it everything is completely different. Romelu Lukaku already knows a lot and so does Renato Sanches, so they adapted faster, but the others all need time and positive results to build confidence.” - The Special1
For those of us that were thinking of these free singings.

Mourinho opens up about Inter exit and Real Madrid move

Jose Mourinho was honest when remembering his decision to leave Inter for Real Madrid in the summer of 2010, admitting he was ‘was afraid to go back to Milan because of the emotions’.

The Portuguese coach spent two years with the Nerazzurri from 2008 to 2010, guiding them to the Scudetto in his first season and the Treble in his second, instantly becoming a club legend. He quickly left after the Champions League triumph, making the jump to Real Madrid.

Mourinho spent three years in the Spanish capital before an eight-year spell in the Premier League with Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham. In the summer of 2021, he joined Roma and secured the Conference League title in his debut campaign.

Speaking on Sky Sports Italia via TMW, Mourinho opened up about his move from Inter to Real Madrid, explaining the circumstances behind the decision and why he was so certain of the jump.

“I’m always very honest with others and with myself. I could have gone to Real Madrid after my first season with Inter, but I had signed to stay more than a year. I had an incredible relationship, not only with the president, but also with his wife and children.

“I went to Moratti’s house at the end of the first season and we came to the conclusion that I would stay one more year. It wasn’t victory or defeat in the Champions League final that would’ve decided my life, I already knew what I was going to do, and I wanted to go to Real Madrid.

“The opportunity came for the second time and I wanted to go, it was a moment in my career where I told myself I had to. They’re the biggest club in the world, there is no history, but I had that thing of winning the Serie A title.

“Beyond winning or not winning the Champions League, there was a basic job that would have gone to another coach, everything was perfect.

It would have been more comfortable for me to stay at Inter instead of competing with Barcelona, I would have won another easy Scudetto, we would have gone on to become Club World Champions but it wouldn’t have meant anything to me.

“The smart players already knew what I was going to decide, after the Champions League final I didn’t go back to Milan because I was afraid that emotions would change, and I would never go to Real Madrid again.

“I refused to sign the contract with Real Madrid before the final against Bayern Munich, but I was afraid to go back to Milan because of the emotions.”
Mou stating he would have won another easy scudetto with Inter

Mou would likely win at least one Scudetto out of these two last seasons. With all respect to Napoli's impressive last season, it's not like they were top favourites considering how many of their stars left the team, so many changes and everything else. I mean, chance was given so they took every advantage of it. Again, credit to them for being a super competitive team but Inter was just beyond naive.

I'm not even going to talk about that season Milan won it. It boils my blood and will haunt me for the rest of my life. I'm hundred percent sure Mourinho would taken care of these things far better than Limone or any other.

im not sure if i agree with you or not but i find this ironic considering the relative defense of inzaghi on his thread

I was one of the biggest critics to Limone's poor approach while Mílan and Napoli won Scudetto, but this season there is an improvement and I give him credit for that. We started the season pretty well, and we are keeping ourselves competitive even in these matches we dropped points. Something that didn't happen earlier.

20 fucking points?! In what world does Mourinho live in? Even his treble winning Inter hardly won the Scudetto on the last day just 2 points above AS Roma!
20 point is stupid to say, but its expected to hear weird stuff from Jose before an Inter game... But Scudetto should go to Inter, I agree with that.

The same can said about Mou's Roma - if I were Inzaghi I'd say he'd expect Roma to perform better and earn 20pts more compared to last season.
