The management obviously didn't know that he is negotiating with Jube as well. For 35+5mln Lukaku was the best deal out there, and it's quite normal that Inter wanted to get him.

10 years of FIFYea that's your opinion which is fine. I'd rather go for Openda or even Dia for cheaper. Scammaca cost like what? 25m+5 plus cheaper salary too, like significantly cheaper. All these talk about Lukaku willing to lower his salary was all bullshit.
You still have 10m-15m to spend on other positions too.

If I think more about our situation, we were more than happy to pay 30/40m for Lakaka, who is a "30 year old striker", so maybe 25/30m for Taremi isn't that crazy, but it's a bit worrisome the fact he hasn't played in a big league... I can't turn a blind eye to that, and crucify Balogun for the same reason

Is scoring 20+ goals in portuguese league really that impressive? Since J.Mario scored 17, and we all know he was trash here. We could have gone for Nzola for half that price, and we already know he was good enough in Serie A. I hope this is not true, i'd rather have Correa and Esposito as 3rd and 4th option and spend the money on rcb.

It depends on what the club is looking for. Are they looking for someone who is just good enough for Serie A or also someone that can be good enough for the Champions League? Taremi does have experience in the CL and scored 5 goals last season. I guess another thing management may like is that he has consecutive seasons with double digits goals and assists.
Nzola was decent last season, but he also scored a grand total of 2 Serie A goals in 2021/2022 season which is pretty terrible. Also, last season 9 of his 13 goals were in the first 18 matches of the season. That means he scored 4 goals in the next 20 matches. He didn't play all the matches but he seems to get injured quite often as well - 23 matches missed in last 3 season - it doesn't seem that bad on the surface but Inter also play a lot more matches than Spezia. Maybe he's an injury prone player.
Correa and Esposito as 3rd/4th option is so risky - it could potentially mean we have 2 out of 4 strikers that may contribute nothing over an entire season.

He ain't wrong, though. If you would to rank the leagues with the most inflated prices for players relative to their objective quality, then portuguese league would surely be the number one.

10 years of FIFI agree, but saying "He was worth 50M" sounds like we are getting a bargain here.
Spending 30M for a 31yo FW that never played in the top 4 leagues is an idiotic thing to do, especially when our financial situation is bed. Its almost stupid as spendinf 31M for a FW that never scored double figures in his entire career.
And in both cases, Marotta and AID are in charge.
