Lo Celso might be interesting but injury prone i suspect.

Fratessi should join Roma. They are the right fit for him and he can play regularly there. We don't need to spend tens of millions for a Gags replacement. Even if Brozo is sold we need a better player than Fratessi as his replacement.
Frattesi wouldn't be Brozovic's replacement though. If Broz was sold, Calhanoglu would permanently slot into that DM role with Asllani as his backup. Frattesi would essentially replace Calhanoglu and provide competition for Mkhitaryan and Barella in those LCM / RCM positions.

Given how well Calhanoglu played there during Brozovic's injury, it's hard to criticise the idea - especially considering this may be our last opportunity to monetize on Brozovic. But at this point I'm too attached to Broz. Guy is one of the most unintentionally hilarious people to come through this club.

I know. What I meant is Frattesi-Hakan-Barella is a downgrade to Hakan-Brozovic-Barella. If he didn't cost as much as SMS and perhaps Kessie and Brozovic himself I didn't mind the idea, but it does not make sense to me to spend +30m for an inferior player when we can get SMS or Kessie, or just keep Brozovic.

How do I conclude what? That an inferior player is an inferior player?
Inferior to whom? Frattesi has different skillset than Brozo or Hakan. He is much bigger attacking threat than above two.
I'd agree with you if Inter still used previous Inzaghi's possession football with high defending line, which requires better passers like Hakan and Brozo. But, with this more direct football with quick transition, Frattesi could be very good acquisition.

If the choice is between Frattesi and SMS, I hope that ours will choose the second.

Frattesi is a great 4/5 choice midfielder in our system but he shouldn't come as a main starter.
Yeah it just feels like way too expensive player if we end up buying him for 30m valuation.

With Frattesi we lose one in triangle midfielders in defensive play.

As @Universe says, maybe it`s the last time we can sell Brozo for significant dollars. He will be 32yo next year.
And don`t forget we are poor, actually fucking broke. If we could sell Brozo and bring one of SMS, Frattessi or Kessie (in this order), go for it!

Keeping in mind our disastrous finances, my dream mercato would be to sell Onana and Brozo and bring Vicario (Carnesechi), a young CB (Scalvini is the hot name) and one of those midfielders. Dumfries and Gosens could also go for the right offer.

Vicario, Scalvini, Bastoni, Dumfries (Singo), DiMarco, Barella, Calha, Frattessi, Lautaro - that`s a nucleus of 9 players in their prime (except Scalvini). We can fill the roster with old farts and a few kids. That`s enough to keep us competitive until the ownership problem will be solved in one way or another.

It could be fair to think that this is probably the last chance to cash in Brozo, and from a financial standpoint, we might consider offloading him due to his high annual cost (12m) and also because he could generate a good amount of capital gain. As Antonello also hint for lowering the overall team annual cost.

However, I still highly doubt about this signing SMS and or Frattesi rumour.
Signing one of them will actually cost more than Brozo, especially in without the inclusion of a growth decree.
Frattesi can cost us 15.3 million per year for just as 30 million in transfer fees and 5 million for a 5-year contract.
SMS can even command a staggering 18 million annual cost, and that is assuming he signs for just 35 million with a salary of 5 million for a four-year contract.

It is true that by selling Brozo, we may be able to get a player with a higher resale value.
But we also had to consider the sporting aspect here, in my opinion we'll losing quality here.
Yes, he turned 30 here, but it's not like he suddenly stopped performing or is rapidly declining.

I know that Inter management is dumb, offering high salaries of average players, but there is no way to offer 5 mln net salary to Frattesi. It will be around 2.5-3mln. Wich means around 12 mln annual cost. From other hand, I can foresee that SMS will demand 5 mln net at least. With many clubs interested, that could go to 6, or even 7 net.

We all value Brozovic's output. It's not irreplaceable anymore but he's quite unique and almost integral to our game.

Yet, we need to fix our finances. UEFA settlement agreement kind of forces us to make the ends meet at some point. Actually it almost forces us to do this every year. We need to go to the right direction year by year, so that we would end up making like 60m deficit in 25/26 or something. CL success hides our financial worries but we can't bank on it to happen every year. Costs needs to be handled. On the other hand, keeping the squad relevant allows us to make these CL runs.

It's a good point these replacements wouldn't be cheap, they would be actually quite expensive. But as @varmin pointed out, we wouldn't be paying Frattesi some top dollar. He hasn't shown yet much in Serie A. SMS has but I doubt even he would be able to get 6m net contract. If he goes overseas, maybe then.

Frattesi would be an investment to the future while being able to help in rotation immediately. SMS would be an insertion to our starting lineup, a star player in the league who would help right now. It wouldn't maybe be an improvement from Brozovic, just shifting our game style.

As Il Drago mentioned, Jubentus will be hungry for SMS, especially if Rabiot does not extend. Reportedly they have already reached an agreement with his agent Kezman, so we all know what that means (see Vlahovic case). Would not get my hopes up, even if Inzaghi knows SMS very well and how to get the best out of him.

Brozovic has established himself and we are all grateful for his contribution, but my feeling is that the club is trying to cash in on him because all of that will be pure profit. Since Hakan stepped up in his role, Epic Brozo is not irreplace-able any more, so if a good offer comes in, he`s sold. Question is, who would sign a 30 years old midfielder like that? Barcelona? Barcelona could sign Kante on a free, so why pay for Brozovic? Because Kessie could go on the other way around, which would be a plus for both books.

Frattesi is not good enough for now and clearly not consistent enough + seems like a big investment. Still very young at 23 and has potential, but we want to avoid another Sensi episode. Especially that Sensi is still owned by Inter and could be a Gagliardini replacement.

Conclusion?
I believe the club will try to bring in Kessie as 1st priority if Brozo needs replacement. I remember both Ausilio and Marotta being fans. He is 26, proven at top level Serie A and already knows how to play with Hakan.

Please keep these negative(and probably realistic) thoughts about SMS for yourself! It would allmost be a dream for me to see this guy in an Inter shirt so I want to get high on the thought it may be possible till the very end.

I would really like SMS. A dream signing for years. But a midfield of Hakan, SMS and Barella seems a little light on the defensive part.
