Played well today
Can tell his confidence is growing.

Still on the fence about a possible permanent deal.

Would be good to have him next season , of he takes a pill on his wages.

But onana needs to stay , defence is something else with onana commanding the back line

Lu-La > Haaland

Lu-La > Benzema

It’s absolutely crazy how this guy scored one of the best goals I’ve seen in a long time, won us 3 critical points in a game so many were called lost, on his birthday none the less and his thread remains barren.

Happy Birthday dude! keep stunting on those haters!

Well Benzema isn't in form currently, so I agree, but one Haaland is def better than Lautaro and Lukaku together. =)

If only Lukaku wasn't injured for so long and played like this most of the time, I'd gladly debate Lukaku vs Haaland

Really mixed feelings with this guy.

If he can be the one tormenting minnows in Serie A, but mostly as a rotational option and not a default starter like Lautaro, I could accept one more loan here. Of course with seriously reduced salary from his current 8m (given the role).

But if we keep him with current salary meaning he's expected to lead the lines as the super star of the league, I don't want any of that shit.

He's doing good things but his technique is simply so flawed that he has hard times controlling simple balls thrown at him. Lot of stuff needs to fall into places for him to be able to pull off those kind of goals he scored yesterday.

At the same time don't want to take anything from him regarding those goals as they were brilliant.

On his current form, he's definitely a useful option for us, but as you say the cost of ownership and method of ownership needs to be seriously considered. Given our financial position, if we sign him permanently its likely to be a 5 year deal to keep amortisation down, and he'd be 35 by the time it was over. I wouldnt really want to keep him for that long right now.

If he can deliver at this level next season, we could get close to peak lukaku again - I dont think he'll ever be on the same height, but he wont be ar off it

When it comes to Lukaku it isn't just a matter of performances. It's primarily a matter of cost. When we need to reduce wage bill you have to ask yourself if it's worth spending 8.5m net plus the loan fee to Chelsea for what Lukaku is offering. He's been good in the last 10 games. But can he maintain this level of performances for an entire season? And most importantly, can he stay fit for an entire season? These are questions no one can answer with certainty. Keeping Lukaku, who has already turned 30, for one more season would be a gamble that could go either way. The cost makes it a pretty expensive gamble.

Well that comes down to a medical/physio discussion then really, I'd assume they've root caused the injury issues that he's had at Inter this season and are providing a medical opinion on the guy. Even at Chelsea he had a bit here and there but wasnt out for sustained periods of time

He is playing for his contract at Inter & also he has some goals to play for - legacy/fans - like winning CL and getting Inter into CL spots. It's about his story. If he wins CL with Inter, ain't nobody gonna tell him nuthin'.

The problem is that he is too unpredictable, even a bit hypocritical. He wasted a year and a half of his career because he was sold back to Chelsea. He WANTED to go back there. Maybe his fall from grace never happens if he stayed here. Who knows. At least maybe his fall from grace doesn't happen to this degree.

But will he really perform next season? Does he have the right drive for it?

If we can get a decent price for an extended loan or outright purchase, I say go for it. We've squandered more money on far worse players than him.
We're not getting rid of Correa, and grandpa Dzeko can't play every game. We need options in attack.

If he turns into a monster this last month, maybe we should consider loaning him again, at least he is better than Correa.

But Correa really has to leave and another striker has to be brought instead. I don't worry about Lukaku, I'm worried about not getting the right piece to compliment Lautaro

He can stay for another year for half of what we paid to Chelsea and half of his current salary, otherwise I don't jizz over his recent form. That's the normal thing he should offer for what he costs, and just doing that by the end of season does not justify his staying for another year for the same price.

Salary aside Chelsea would have to take a huge write down on him for him to be affordable for us tbh. We would also probably end up signing him on a 5 year contract to spread his cost.

If he keeps up his form im definitely in favour of at least extending his loan for another year but the practicalities are challenging

His salary is a burden yes, but if we decide to not extend his loan and sign someone else instead, that someone else might flop. If a serie A proven player like Correa flopped big time I don't know what to expect from a striker outside of serie A. So there's a decision to make, either we loan Lukaku with his big salary or go for a gamble. Lukaku is fan favorite, teammates love him, Inzaghi seems to have found the key to unlocking his beast form at last. I'd loan him again and get rid of Correa cause I really have no hope for him.

I agree, its a less risky bet, but the outright cost might simply be out of our budget. If you have only £100, you cant say that buying a computer for £500 is likely to be better than a computer for £100, you simply cant afford it

Don't have one.
Man I really think we need a revolution in attack next season which means I would like at least two new names, which also means in an ideal world we should pick between dzeko or lukaku in terms of who is staying and say goodbye to correa. I don't think that's realistic, but it is what needs to be done, so we can finally exit this vicious circle of our strikers being streaky as fuck and that costing us in the long run.

Don't think replacing just correa with whoever, and lukaku, dzeko and lautaro staying will improve us that much, cos bar lukaku improving slightly compared to this season I don't think dzeko or lautaro have much more margin to improve, they are what they are and their stats this season is what you can expect from them in best case scenario next season as well.
