INTER: MAROTTA PROVIDES UPDATES

Inter director Beppe Marotta admits the Nerazzurri have cooled their interest in Paulo Dybala and hopes Simone Inzaghi remains at the club for many years.
The Nerazzurri director met the media ahead of Inzaghi’s press conference at Appiano Gentile today. The Serie A giants will begin their pre-season tomorrow.

Marotta spoke about the future of Paulo Dybala and his possible move to Inter after the end of his contract with Juventus.
The Nerazzurri met the player’s agent several weeks ago, but there haven’t been developments since the return of Romelu Lukaku to the club.
“Dybala is part of the many players available for free. I had never seen so many and it proves that football is changing and that more courage is needed at a youth level,” said Marotta.
“Dybala represented and still represents an opportunity, but we are ok in attack with valuable players who the coach will need to manage in the best way even if I have a solid bond with Dybala.”
Marotta signed Dybala at Juventus in 2015 for €40m. The Argentinean striker is still available as a free agent, with Napoli, Milan and new Serie A boys Monza also interested.

The former Juventus director continued by discussing the club’s target for next season.
“I’ll just quickly mention the last season, which had a bittersweet taste. We added two more trophies to our cabinet, but the second place in Serie A left a bitter taste in our mouths showing that the difference between winners and runners-up is minimal.
“An important update is the contract extension of our coach, which is the result of a great rapport that we’ve built from last year after some turbulences in the summer. The renewal was natural because Inzaghi proved to be up to the task. He has the skills to remain with us for a long time and be one of the best coaches.”

Inzaghi signed a new deal with Inter at the end of June, extending his stay at the club until 2024.
“I thank my collaborators Ausilio and Baccin, who are working really well to build a competitive team for our targets,” Marotta continued.
“In football, the bar must be very high. You must have the courage to win and not be afraid to lose. We come back intending to win and be highly competitive.

“Sustainability is crucial for continuity, we have this target, which doesn’t mean not being competitive. The market can be creative and intuitive. We have two more months ahead; even if the season will start in between, it’s an anomalous campaign.
The target is to add more trophies to our cabinet. Work and a sense of belonging are the principles that must guide us to the maximum.”
Seems like another message to Dybala`s agent and we need to offload 1 to sign 1.

Marotta has asked Lega Serie A to reintroduce repurchase clauses and it will be discussed

As has been reported by Corriere della Sera, the Inter CEO wants the League Council to ask FIGC president Gabriele Gravina for an amendment that will reintroduce repurchase clauses and that motion will be discussed on Friday by the Federal Council.

By reintroducing the repurchase clauses, it will allow clubs to add the price tag of the sale as capital gains on their balance sheets.

This differs to buy-back clauses where the clubs have to wait until after the buy-back clause has been exercised or discarded before they can then add the sale to their balance sheet.

Inter are currently involved in multiple deals where this amendment would be of use such as the sale of Andrea Pinamonti or the inclusion of Cesare Casadei in the deal for Torino’s Gleison Bremer.
Don Beppe the influencer.

I'm not entirely clear either, BUT i think the point is:

We move away from loaning a player + an option to re-purchase them, which then means at the end of the season you may get the capital flow onto your book - to selling a player outright and retaining an option to repurchase them at the end of the year, so the cash immediately lands in on the book.

Thanks .h.

Maybe I'm not understanding your point clearly, but all he needs to achieve that is to stop sending players on loan and sell them immediately? Why would he need the league help for that?

Its not really clear to me. It sounds like you cant negotiate a re-purchase option when someone is sold outright currently, so what we do, is loan a player out with an option for the loaning club to purchase, and with a counter-option for Inter to "bust" that option (e.g. the re-purchase).

What it sounds like is that if I sell (say) Handanovic, I cant do it with an option to re-purchase him. Its probably to do with 3rd party ownership and influence, and the reduction of co-ownership etc you see in Italy in the last decade

Oh is that so? That if I sell a player, we can't include buyback option to that deal? Why on Earth is that so?

But with loan + obligation + buyback option should do the trick or have they banned that too? Loan + obligation acts the same way as direct transfer in bookkeeping.

I dont know, I'm speculating that's the basis of the article.

I guess the point is if we loan a player with option to buy, the money isnt guaranteed to land on our book until the option is exercised - the way Marotta wants it, it will land on our book instantly.

I think loan+obligation+buyback is still viable, but the difference there is we effectively have an option to pay to over-write the obligation; whereas this way we have an option to re-purchase down the line?

I dunno.

Well loan + option hitting immediately to the books doesn't make any sense so I really doubt Marotta suggests that.

From going against the wishes of a raging Conte and buying Eriksen, to blowing an easy transfer of Dybala who the new coach wants. Pretty embarrassing from this dude.

everything goes in cycles. But seeing what kind of problems we have, being so good is a fucking miracle. After last summer (hated the transfers) I was expecting a big drop for us, being 4th or 5th, but we showed we can still be a menace. I'm actually being positive about the future, even if we'll have to sell a player or two. As for now, we are still in a positive part of the cycle

All of our in and out transfers this summer are positive except Skriniar. Up until now we're at -31m (mostly because of one useless player). Add Bremer and that would be around -65m which probably explains why the assholes want to sell Skriniar.

From a sporting perspective only, we're doing better transfers than last summer. Sure we've lost two vital players just like last summer (Perisic-Skriniar and Haikimi-Lukaku), but this time their replacements aren't massive downgrades. Also getting back Lukaku is a great improvement.

Man allot of people talking shot right here…Moratta is not stupid he actually is one of the most competent in the world of football right now.

I mean his track record speaks for itself when he recreated juve merde and look what they did for the 9 year cycle of winning the serie a.

He doesn’t have the freedom of cash at inter and to be honest he has done fucken well to make it work.

Getting lukaku back after cashing in on him was unexpected but the right move and even if it is for one season it will be very profitable for us I know it.

Mkhitaryan on free transfer - good business as he gives us extra option in midfield and can be awesome impact player.

Onana on free transfer - gives us our future goalkeeper.

We will get Bremer to replace skriniar once PSG coff up at least 65-70m

And we got a young prospect to mould for the future in Asllani.

As for Dybala the deal could have been done ages ago that’s right but the finances weren’t right. So he playing him now. You think he really wants to go to Roma ?? Napoli ?

No he wants us but he needs to put his agent in check and tell him to get stuffed on his commission demands. Do we need him ? You wouldn’t say no to him but he needs us more than we need him. So drag it out until we get what we want. Smart move I say.

I never respected moratta at juve that’s a given but I give him mad props for how he can work with the mad financial issues we got and still get shot done.

Mhki and Onana are good deals, but I am not convinced they were the right options. Also wages for many of our older players are just too high, but that has to do something with the times we live in. Last 5 years we consistently tried for proven players that demand higher wages, just like Juve, while Milan slowly went the other way and it paid off for now.

Overall it's the transfers of young(er) players where Marotta impressed me most. Things haven't been 100% rosy, but I remember bad times when we had about the same amount of budget if not more and we were buying too many shitty players.
