I only saw the Milan game were I thought he was quite absent I just feel like he needed this loan to regain his fitness and get back to form so he is ready for the campaign next season. The loan was to remind us, his loan is serving the purpose. Once we have a fully fit team what happens? He goes on the bench for Hakan/Barella/Brozo.. so you think we should have kept a player who needs to regain fitness and form for 2/3 games then let him sit on bench and get a few minutes here and there?Did you watch either game? He scored on debut and gave a lot of great forward passes to Caputo, all the while Martinez hasn't received a forward pass since November. Most importantly he's involved in all the attacks (something that only Sanchez does in our squad), while adding fluidity and technicality in midfield and connecting possession with the offense - things we lack in the extreme.
I was in favor of him leaving because I assumed he wasn't fit and that we wouldn't be stupid enough to play the rest of the season with just Vidal, Gagliardini and Vecino in reserve, but here we are. Now that he's played 2 good games of 90 minutes and we're reminded of what he can do, one has to question Inzaghi's reluctance to play him ahead of the other trash we have.
One also needs to question why management didn't invest in an offensive midfielder instead of Gosens who isn't even fit and wouldn't even play right now considering that Perisic is having a magnificent season.
