Like I said he has the benefit of playing in a back 3 alongside DeVrij and Skrinnair. Also keep in mind DeLigt went down with a shoulder injury he's only just hit form now and has become Gobbi's best defender. Did you see the Coppa semi game? He's got it all, physical, strong, passing, excellent anticipation, tackling, playing the highline, leadership, he's borderline world class in all areas. Whats more he has a more experience in higher level games (NT and UCL). I don't think they're comparable at this point in their careers but as things stand DeLigt is levels above Bastoni.
Why should we bring "benefits" into argument? Bastoni is playing as he is required to, and he excels on it pretty well. And since you mentioned benefits, then of course de Ligt has them and had them as well, because he played for better teams, and especially him being part of the scum means he will automatically gets the favours from the referees. But thats another thing.
Indeed he is doing very well these days and he is going through a very good form, but I remember him as a defender who is prone to brainfarts because he seems to rush into things pretty easy. On another note, Bastoni is known for his calmness even in toughest situations. We can sit and discuss about it all day, but they are different kind of defenders and I said that I would choose Bastoni over de Ligt any day of the week, despite that I agree that de Ligt has more experience in overall, and that is mainly because de Ligt played in a team that gives a lot opportunities to youngsters and winning for them is on the second plan when it comes to Champions League, meanwhile Holland's league compared to Italian league is far inferior.
Bastoni is low-key one of the most consistent performers in this team besides Barella, Handanovic and co, but yet again he doesn't get as much credit as he deserves, and I'm fine with that, but to say that de Ligt is levels above him it's pure bullshit to me.
De Ligt is among the best out there today. Don't let the Juve bias cloud that. He is their best defender at this point, above Chiellini and far above Bonucci (who is a joke). Bastoni can get there, but it'll take time.
Not really. My opinion is purely based of how I see football. He is their best defender indeed, but I mean, Bonucci was never a great defender, the guy was just lucky to play besides Chiellini who was among the best of his generation despite that he's a cunt, and also was lucky to play for the scum as we know how many times they get away with referee's help... like how many penalties not given despite of obvious fouls or challenges and everything.
Age effect has hit Chiellini and that's understandable. I even said in the Lukaku's thread that him outplaying Chiellini doesn't impress me that much because the cunt had injuries and absences over the past couple of seasons therefore he is as good as finished.
De Ligt is better player than Bastoni, it is a hard fact that must be admitted. Bastoni has occasional defensive lapses and quite vulnerable to throughball or any movement behind him. Meanwhile, De Ligt stops everything that comes to or through him. We laud Bastoni for his ball distribution, but unfortunately De Ligt is even more superior. Not even his passing is more crisp, he is even better in bringing ball forward. See how he brought ball forward with ease when he played for Ajax.
Now let's talk objective facts. De Ligt captained Ajax and was very close to reach UCL final, he was signed at 75 million fee, and he benches De Vrij in the national team. Those are achieved before he reached 20 years old and he seems to be professional character-wise. What a shame such wonderful talent ends up in the trash club.
Well, I'm too lazy to search for things right now, but I will try to collect them and eventually post here because I completely disagree on your argument of "de Ligt stops everything that comes to or through him", I mean you're describing him like he's a sort of Walter Samuel or Nesta...
Lemme tell you something, Pique was part of Barca's winning team and he played regularly also was considered as key players at some point, but he was never a great defender. de Ligt benching de Vrij for their NT was unfair because de Vrij was having a superior season to de Ligt and was in fact choosen as defender of the year so...
I'm not even gonna continue with this debate, but just gonna end it here; de Ligt gets more credit than what he deserves.
