Could anyone explain to me what Perisic is lacking to be (made) our LWB? (technically).

Messi is still excellent when he has the ball, although he's regressing in that regard as well as it's easier to crowd him out or take away the ball than it was years ago. However, off the ball, he's a 0/10. In the modern game, you can't just stand in one spot waiting for the ball. As good as he is when he has the ball, it's like playing with a man less otherwise.

He can't play as a winger as he will never track back the fullback and he drifts to the middle too often, usually 5 feet of Busquets just to receive the ball. He doesn't really make many runs anymore. He also can't play a #10 as he doesn't offer any defensive output.

I'm not even sure what his ideal role would be.. perhaps a false name in a team that has very productive/pacey wingers and midfielders that make lots of runs into the box. He could also somewhat work in a team where every other outfield player runs like crazy to accommodate for Messi's poor workrate off the ball.

He's also a very poor leader imo. Whenever his team is in a tough situation (away from Camp Nou), it's almost as if he's sulking instead of motivating his team on.

I laugh at the beatdown Barca recieved. Just take a pause and look at the scoreline '2-8, I mean..'2-8'. It's just surreal. :)
Bayern are one fucking scary team. This reminds me of the team of Heynckes. Only this one is even a little better.

Cheeky Lewandowksi. A warm, intimate hug with alluring team manager Kathleen Krüger.

Bayern is on a run right now, if I remember correct, only 1 loss, 2 draws and 34 wins since the coach took over.

Bayern has scored 39 goals until now in CL, Setien should bury himself in front of Messi.
Did Umtiti give everyone Covid 19?

Call me crazy, but I'm not so sure I would want Messi at Inter.

I know it's a purely academic discussion, and the most likely thing is that he will stay at barca and if he ever moves, maybe it's more likely that he would go to City.

That said, would he be worth the huge costs? So far, Ronaldo hasn't been at juventus.

Messi is approaching the wrong side of 30, and unlike Ronaldo, he isn't a health freak and he isn't a leader.

He would probably give a boost in the short term, but probably at a huge price, both literally and in terms of the developing of the team, which would be halted.

He's probably also a "my way or the highway" kind of person, not the ideal to deal with.

Again, I know this is most likely purely speculative.

If it was 2 legs Bayern and extra time in mind Bayern would have scored 2 thousand goals.

It is more about opportunity costs, I think. Getting Messi = short-term solution + fanbase + merchandise (when he moves, we instantly lose many of those 'fans')

What if the same amount of cost would give us Thiago or a world class DM, for example? I am not sure short term or long term is the right calculation.

Half the people here are probably fans because Ronaldo was around.

tbh the chance to sign a player like messi is once every 20 years for a club like Inter - Ronaldo is arguably the previous one, and the one before that predates my time probably - maybe Matthaus? I dont mean like the Adriano, Ibrahimovic, etc, level, but like one of the 4? de facto best players in the world (Messi, Van Dijk, Ronaldo, Modric - modric being included because he won it last year).

It'll depend on salary and stuff, and if we can get the sponsorship to make it work, but if we get the chance, we should take it. It depends on the overall price - where Juve got fucked on Ronaldo was the transfer cost tbh. 117m euros for him at that age with that salary is ludicrous

Yeah. Wrote in another thread that Messi doesn't fit to Conte like AT ALL. But like browha said, if you get that chance so sign such player, you sign the player. The global marketing boost would be yuuuuuuge. It would be expensive as hell but tax reduction will help in that regards, massively, compared to CR7 and Juventus. Though his annual salary would be higher but tax reduction mitigates that and there wouldn't be anything to amortize (unless they structure the deal to include huge signing on fees). CR7 annual amortized cost is 25m€ so that's like 1/3 of the overall annual cost. I believe we would be able to get the annual cost of Messi to under 70m€ with 50m€ annual net salary.

As shit as Barcs were Bayern were incredible, yeah the high line and extreme pressing are sometimes questionable and can leave them vulnerable way too easily but boy were they effecient going forward. Muller just had one of his typical big games, that guy is a mystery to me he looks so ordinary but he's anything but. and I just loved how Lewa played, as the best no.9 in the world and arguably best player too he doesn't play like it in the sense of always asking for the ball (looking at you Lukaku) and so often he drifts wide and just helps in the build up or middle of the attack instead of being at the end of it to score, great player indeed and Bayern are lucky to have him.

If there is any chance for him to come here (and I still don't believe it), I don't think barca would make a big problem in terms of transfer fee, if for example messi exclusively chooses us. I think barsa would respect that decision, after many years of loyalty. In a bidding war however...
But i think if he decides to leave he will already have one club in mind, whichever it is.

tbh, barca need money - plusvalenza would go a long way for them atm

obviously his salary would practically fix all their problems alone, but the plusvalenza would help them take some needed write downs like Cou and Dembele
