Skriniar is untouchable in my book. Conte will be gone in a year or two and we'll be stuck with the bum who will supposedly replace Skriniar.

I'm old enough to have followed his career since the Chievo days. I don't care even if he were the 6th choice, I confirm my opinion.

Back on topic, which is Skriniar, it's questionable how well he can adapt to this goddamn defensive system, it seems to take away a lot from his qualities.

He won't. He's not a mobile 1v1 defender. He's perfect for CB spot, and that position doesn't put him in a position to be so vulnerable we've seen this season. Area he's responsible is so much wider now than in CB role in 4 man defence. I'd definitely want Conte to switch to that since most of the defence line is for that formation.

Didn't he get rid of his agent just so contract talks can go a lot smoother between him and the club? A remarkable gesture from a professional player. To end up selling him would be.. harsh to say the least.

Was listening to calcioland podcast. David Amoyal writes for Di marzio I think it is. He said when he heard skriniar was for sale he asked around about it with their contacts and they said he's been on the market for a while now but inte rjust haven't received any offers.

Personally, I think it's madness. Yes he hasn't been great this season but I'm totally against this. Would rather sell 99% of the other players in our squad than him

He has also said he wants to be Inter's Hamsik.

With the exception of Barella, I would sell anyone else in the squad before Skriniar.

Yeah, you don't get players like this every year. If you sign a player who immediately feels the sense of belonging to the club and wants to bleed for it, you don't sell that player if he doesn't fit to coach's stupid tactics. You tell the coach to adapt to his squad and refuse to sell.

I heard Tottenham is looking a for a quality CB. Maybe trade him for Serge Aurier- not quality but will run up and down the field for you and make at least one screw up ever game.

It’s ridiculous that Skriniar, Eriksen, and Brozovic are deemed non - essential but Cardreva and now Borja are getting extensions.

Forget Conte’s demands. He either uses the players the management get and works with the the best system or he can continue to lose and screw his career.

Lol at those who consider Barzagli to be a great defender. I sometimes question the age of people on this forum. Barzagli was third choice for most of his Juventus career but somewhere is great. He was decent but nothing more than good.

Barzagli use to be world class player

What's going on here with people thinking Barzagli wasn't very good defender.Absolute madness.
If De Light had a season like he's having at Inter he would be on loan somewhere next season.
That tells you everything about what we should do with Skriniar.

Hint: It's not loan move.

Very happy with his encouraging performance against SPAL. Looked much better today. Yes, it was against a humble opponent but nonetheless, considering the (extremely) poor season he's had, every small win is important. Keep it up.

For all this insistence that Barzagli was a great defender, no one has pointed out any dominant characteristic that set him above other Italian defenders.

You know who was undoubtedly a great defender but arguably not world class - Marco Materazzi. Materazzi was dominate in the air and a great passer of the ball. He understood his weakness - lack of pace- but made up for it with his positioning. He was also a warrior of a player.

What did Barzagli excel in that set him apart from other Italian defenders?

Back to Skiniar , he has the natural attributes to become a great defender, and unlike Barzagli can excel in the premier league.

No that isn't arguable. Materazzi was world class.

OT:

I thought he did okay against Genoa, he dominated in the air and had some good interceptions. But why the hell was he subbed off? Godin was giving every fuckin ball to Genoa in the time period Skrinair was subbed, it really didn't make any sense as a lot of subs of Conte.

I feel like Conte has been more careful with his minutes recently. Probably wants him fresher vs Napoli and we had the game under control.

I've read that he was rested and that's why he was subbed. Not sure how legit that is but I guess we will find out tomorrow
