Is he exempt from tackling or something? I don't see how we can play him as a mezzala if he refuses to put the foot in. There's no way he should play ahead of Lautaro/Sanchez. He looks a luxury player, it's trequartista or bench. I'm beginning to wonder why we got him.

FIF Special OnesWhile I don’t agree with everything surripere said he’s not 100% wrong. Eriksen does need to put a foot in and at least attempt a tackle every once in a while, or we need a more defensive player in midfield to compensate. Even Sensi will tackle when he can, I don’t see Eriksen even making a legitimate attempt. Maybe it due to fitness but I think that’s just the player he is. He is a bit luxurious, and we already struggle with our midfield being a little lightweight and porous.
With that being said we have to find a way to get him in the game, he is class and will be a difference maker for us in these types of games in the future. Also that free kick was sick.

I think barella and brozovic provide enough steel to allow eriksen to do his thing. Conte will likely demand eriksen to play with more pressure off the ball, but his tidy passes and threat of a long pass are nice to kill games off with.
