I fell in love with the sport through international fixtures, specifically the World Cup. Now I absolutely loathe them.

Time for the new guys to step up.
Lazaro, Bastoni, and Biraghi all primed to get minutes. Maybe even Esposito.

It's been confirmed: Sanchez has a "dislocation of the tendons" in his left ankle, D'Ambrosio has fractured the 4th toe on his left foot and ADRossi is gay.

I fell in love with the sport through following and supporting Inter. And nothing has changed since that time. My dislike for International football probably comes from the fact that Australia's national team (the Socceroos) are so pathetic and the fact that International football more often than not happens to negatively impact Inter.

So these are all just month long conditions ?

Get well soon ADRossi. We're all rooting for you. Figuratively and literally...

Indeed, what's not to love about international football - we lost 6-0 to you guys while we racially abused your players... Yet another glorious night of football for the Bulgarian NT and its "fans". :palm:

its a shame as my first memories of bulgaria are world cup 94 and stochkov and letchkov. innocent times as a child you dont judge any countries on anything other than their football team.

how is the reaction in bulgaria btw? condemnation or 5050? majority playing victim? Or just dont care? Curious

Meh, as everything in the world these days - polar. Can't really tell as I think I'm in a special bubble and I'm in touch with normal people, but the commentators and Bulgarian football officials were brushing it off as if nothing happened, they even stated they "haven't heard anything" and were kind pissed that the game was being stopped "for no reason". Also the NT coach said he hasn't heard anything and was playing dumb.

Our prime minister, Borisov, went out (on Facebook of all places) and stated he wants Bulgarian Football Union's Borislav Mihaylov's head. Yeah, that's the same Borislav Mihaylov from '94 - the goalkeeper. He's a drunk and a retard now. As expected Mr. Mihaylov said he isn't resigning and he'll gather a press conference to "clear things up". Like they aren't clear or something. :yao:

So yeah, basically normal young people are shocked and the old football farts are apologetic. They're in damage control mode - desperately trying to save their asses I suppose.

I'm Bulgarian and i don't care about Bulgarian football since it is on the bottom of the bottomless pit of corruption last 15 years.

Trifon Ivanov was a real sexy beast !! Always liked the Bulgarian NT.Hopefully they get their act together and get back to qualifying for tournaments.Euro 2004 was way too long ago and that Miss Bulgaria in the stands is still etched in my memory!

Lautaro has been much better than our other forwards the last couple of matches. Can’t leave him out.

I would take inspiration from our former metronomo and treble-winner Thiago Motta and (literally) adopt his “revolutionary” “272” formation:

Lautaro - Lukaku
Asamoah - Gagliardini - Brozovic - Handanovic - Barella - Vecino - Lazaro
Bostoni - De Vrij

I mean, sure. Good for you real football fans. Maybe if WC host bids weren't decided by bribes and European tournaments weren't watered down by letting everyone with a pulse qualify I would be more into it.

Strong win for Canada over the U.S. on Tuesday though. First time in 25 years.

Oh sorry about us having other interests and not caring about games with low quality teams and no significance.

Personally, I feel that allowing more teams to play in the World Cup and Euros has had the effect of reducing the quality of each tournament. The whole bidding process is fucked and I cant be fucked watching the Ukraine play Jamaica. Teams of that calibre should not even be playing in the World Cup or Euros. That's why I don't care about international football. I used to love and follow it with the same dedication that I follow Inter but now I hardly care.

Pretty much this.

As someone who always preferred these tournaments over heavily marketed competitions like the CL (in the past 11 years in particular which coincidentally was also the moment it also became watered down), I feel that corruption has ruined them.

The last World Cup I really enjoyed was the 1998 one despite not liking its final. And that also was a corrupt case where Platini meddled a lot and helped France.

I still have buzzing in my ears from the 2010 World Cup but I can honestly say I prefer that to whatever club football of the 2010s except South American.
And honestly, same goes for 2014 and 2018. But it's getting worse as things move on. Profit maximization in sports usually means you have to ruin the quality.

The last Euro I loved as a neutral observer was 2000. In 2004 I surely got too much joy but honestly it was underwhelming given how everyone important just failed.

The Euro was my favorite competition and now I barely care about it.
The World Cup is going to turn to shit with 48 teams.

And as much as I could say that in principle I would prefer more international football, the way Uefa and Fifa are handling it is too stupid and it is killing the sport. You cannot stop club football every 2-3 weeks for some meaningless games. If they wanted a "Nations League" then they should just do that. A league. 4 tiers or whatever with 10-12 teams, they play each other 4 times during the season and 8 times during the off season and then have the full table every 2 years.

Now everyone wants a "Nations League" because it's a money grabbing event with so called promotions and relegations. Who even cares? Ah yes, the shittier you are the more chances you have to play in the Euro! That's who cares!
