Lautaro Martinez and Icardi not being in this World Cup is good for us. Let them take a rest and destroy Serie A when the time comes to start the season.

Martinez is young, he will have more chances. Icardi to him its a blow though, the next one will be when he is 29.

Considering the exciting season of club football I think this is going to be a disappointment.

Will be the last great World Cup. After this it will be 48 teams and not worth watching. Even with 32 I feel at least 6-10 teams are garbage. So to make the WC better they will add 16 more garbage teams

Just an excuse for rich shitty countries like US, China and Canada to make the big dance. Instead of just letting them get better and qualifying on their own merit. Not like they are in a hard qualification zone

Last great World Cup was back in 1998 with many great teams. 2002, too tainted but at least Ronaldo made it worthwhile, 2006 most teams were bad but at least Italy won. 2010 there was too much buzzing in my ears and 2014 was okayish at best. 2018 will be similar to 2014 imo.

They also ruined the Euro. Those 16 team tournamnets were great every time.

Doesn't anybody here love the world cup but dislike how short it is? When I like something I just wish it could go on longer, so whilst I understand having extra teams may mean more crappier teams (although not a guarantee). I also believe that the same good teams will play each other eventually anyway - with only one extra match in the way btw that's literally all 1 game more. There will be more chances of some upsets happening - I love an underdog ffs or why would I support, love and cry for Inter all these years, we are the Resistance! Finally just more damn world cup increasing my enjoyment, it ends as quick as it starts ffs. Plus maybe Italy can qualify now (Turkey too!) :lol:

2014 was enjoyable tbh, 1998 was my favourite World Cup but it's nostalgia so it's always better.

Considering the high level in club football we can't expect internationals to be that great, there's honestly no team I'm excited to watch but hey hopefully Iceland will do well and our boys can do well.

We've got Brozo, Perisic, Vecino and Miranda right?

Tbh I would rather have quality matches between good teams. Upsets are nice because of their rarity. It wouldn't be as good if they were happening all over the place.

But that's going to happen regardless. You'll just have to wait one more match before it, lemme enjoy the whole experience for a bit longer XD Also not like the "quality matches" have been great between top countries lately. 2014 for the big showdowns were actually abysmal, and the last Euros most enjoyable match for me was Germany vs Italy, I can't lie I didn't watch every game of that Euro but there were a lot of boring games.

it has to be said that the average quality of national teams has icnreased a lot. 20 years ago you could gather, like, 20 teams at most which could play a decent level of football. now, you would easily find 40.

unfortunately, 2 or 3 teams always make it to the world cup final phase despite clearly being not up to the task.

but per se, imho, to increase the number of the participants makes sense

Used to love doing them as a kid. Doing them now would just lead me to buying boxes of them off the internet for 1 player
