Dodo's biggest problem isn't even that he can't cross to save his life.. It's his defending, positioning and decision making.. He is embarrassingly bad at all three of those.. And I know you guys are impressed at his game versus Samp, but not every team is going to go down to 10 men and only counter attack us once every 10 minutes.. Dodo can't handle any form of sustained pressure at all..

He's also very frail. He's shown some toughness having taken bumps, but physically, he's weak and has absolutely no force with or without the ball. He has speed, but its whispy and very gay looking. I can see his attacking skills improving to a degree, but his sad attempts to play defense or be even conscious of his positioning, are what makes him essentially shit.

Calm down dude. The guy is a WINGBACK. We bought him to play in 3-5-2. That is natural position. And apart from one or two shitty brainfart passes, he's as good as they come at his age offensively. His crap defending is mostly down to his positioning but nothing that can't be fixed. Give him time to adjust at least. Last season he played 19 games with Roma in 4-3-3, of only which they lost 3. It's not impossible to mould him.

If he doesn't, we can take 2-3 mill loss but we can still sell him for at least 6 mill since he is young.

If a wing back can't transition to the full back position and defend then he should just give up. This wing back argument is just too defensive.

I'm curios. When exactly did he ever play as a WB in his career before coming here?

Dodo is actually the best crosser we have from the left besides obviously Podolski, its just as always his defense, but I will take his defensive weakness over Campagnaro who can't pass the half way line and worse, we still concede anyway. You have to cover for Dodo, that is the reality, it just is, but he will produce on the other end.

How much assists does have this season? Last I remember was against Roma, then Mancini decided to be a coward after losing to a team clearly ahead of us and grounded after a year of transition.

Jonathan had a lot of assists last year. The problem is none of this fullbacks are as good offensively as Maicon was to make up for their awful defense. Maicon also had Zanetti of course.

Any way, if Gareth Bale, P. Lahm and Alaba are any indication, we just need the kid to develop, we don't necessarily need him to be a life long LB (or even WB).

Think he is too rash and too weak defensively. I knew he was good going forward but I was worried nonetheless. His performance affects the rest at the back four.

He has to tackle, intercept some more. He's way technical and doesn't put his feet into fire. He's at the right age to work his ass for becoming a valuable LB and avoid limitations on his overall play.

i remember that Maicon was shit defensively when he came to Inter... but with Mancini first and Mourinho after, he improved his defensive capabilities and became the best RB in the world.

Dodo is 22 years old, he has time to improve his defensive skills becoming a great LB. Give him the time...

Maicon was never good defender. You forget that he had Zanetti to cover his ass when he bombed forward. Dodo doesn't have that luxury to have player like Zanetti to cover for him.

Also Maicon was also extremely smart. Dodo never showed some spectacular footballing IQ.

For the record, im not saying he wont improve, just to state the obvious so far.

you forget maicon has JZ to save his life..and Mou never played two offensive fullback in his starting eleven. thats why we sold Maxwell and put chivu as LB instead of Maxwell..

you are right, but Maicon isn't so bad defensively... He improved during the years...

anyway, defence is not a great problem if your attacking skills are superb. See Roberto Carlos xD

i don't want to say that Dodo can become like Maicon or Roberto Carlos, but he is talented and can improved in order to become a great LB.

It is obvious that the guy is very talented and deserves the same chance that was given to Maicon.

Agree. Hope that summer preparations can give him that extra boost in defence and he can be a regular next year.
