Ansaldi is having his medical exam in Atletico.... Too many different rumored prices, so i'd just wait to see more defined one. But that was fast. Thats how you work.

Is it down to the personality of the negotiators or the policy of the club?

The policy is changed. They returned quite a bit from the dept, and earned HUGE money last year. Sold Costa, Filipe, Adrian, 2 of their backup GKs for a sum of around 80-90 mils. They spend around the same for Oblak and Moja for the GK position, Guilherme Siqueira for Filipe replacement, now Ansaldi for the same position, got Griezmann as Adrian replacement, and Griezmann is 10x the player Adrian is, and Mandzukic for Costa replacement. Not counting the extra talented Correa who won't play due to heart surgery.

Till last year, the policy was to lower the dept, were selling their best players and were buying cheap replacement. I mean, the team that won La Liga last year, and that reached CL final, had 1 player above 15 mils spend for him - Arda :D

Atletico, BVB, Arsenal, Porto, Fiorentina to some extent are all teams that we should be learning from.

Good system/coach/scouting to make players look good and to take better ones when they're sold + income.

We are still stuck somewhere between the money spenders and the smart teams and so far we aren't doing neither properly.

Damn looks like Atletico got an exact replica of filipe Luis in Ansaldi

Tall skinny South American left back with long hair.. Haven't seen him play though, hopefully he plays just as good as filipe

Fiorentina
Haven't won Serie A since the '69 season
Haven't won the Coppa Italia since 2001
Haven't won European Cup since the 60s

Their ability to be a farm system for bigger clubs is amazing, yet I'll pass

Arsenal
Went 9 years without sniffing a trophy

It's common sense to say teams need to be good at scouting and growing players internally.

I'm talking about NOW and the fucking future.

What makes you think we will sniff a trophy in the next 25 years in the current situation we're in?

The fact that 25 years is a very long time in football?

Well in a couple of years Genoa and Cagliari might be the powerhouses of Italian football, who knows, bought by rich Arabs and shit?

A few years after getting pounded by Liverpool in the CL I didn't expect a Treble and a few years after that I didn't expect a pounding from some shitty Welsh LB by the name of Bale.

Who knows.

Dunno about the rest, but AM is my second team since always, just behind Inter. I watched them when I could find in the spanish second league too. It's not like im on their bandwagon since last year or something.

It's not suckfest. Im just praising their moves and strategy as i REALLY like. That's why WE should have done back in 2010. Sell few stars, use the money to buy replacement AND improve in other areas.

Can you imagine the uproar if we sold Sneijder, Eto'o, Maicon etc right off the back of that season?

Difference in fans opinions tbh... I am never against selling a player, IF we get another one, as quality as the previous ones. We always tend to whine, its iin our blood

Now, after few years, were we wrong not to sell all those players?

Maicon was getting old, so was Eto, and we could get 50 mils for both of them. Sneijder yeah, would've had bar reaction from the fans, but still for the rumored 45 mils, id take in a heartbeat...

The problem with us was we wouldn't have spend that money on quality players.

Obviously in hindsight it would have made sense but it just wouldn't have been allowed.

By the fans... Who the hell asks the fans? If Moratti was smart, would have done that. instead, he saw his players as sons, one of his biggest mistakes.

Also, those eventual moves would have been bashed in the moment it happened, but if worked out well afterwards, moratti and the management would have been praised. I mean, they were shitting on the management for getting us eto at the cost of Ibra :D

I also never said we should have sold every player of ours. Just those that were in the end of their career, like Maicon, Eto or Milito. Sneijder and Motta were different as they were younger.

I don't blame Moratti much for the year after treble. It was everything that happened from Gasperini era and forth that it became clear he lost the plot.

I don't think we could never have sold them after that magical treble year. You can be smart now but still no... and all of them have had pretty good careers after the treble. Motta would still be the best midfielder at Inter, Milito scored 24 goals in Serie A in season 11-12, Maicon seemed to fade away in ManC but is doing pretty good at Roma, Etoo scored 37 goals in every competition in season 10-11. Sneijder is IMO the only one when you look it afterwards who would have been wise to sell right after the treble. He needed Mourinho the most.

That's not the point. The point is, they were getting old and were expensive. In that case, if you can get good money, just take it and run. Then get younger players of the same quality, and if possible, use the money to strengthen other areas.

As I said, i am NEVER against selling a player, IF you know how to use the money. That year was the perfect one to get Aguero, and we WERE constantly linked to him. We just won the treble, had few chamipns in the team and we sold Balotelli for almost 30. But nah, we went for Coutinho and Biabiany. :D

Later, we sold Eto for 27 mils.. We got Zarate and Forlan, who even tho i think were/are good players, are not on Etos level.

You get what I mean? It's not how did they later or what happened. All im saying is that it's ok to sell ANY player as long as you know how to replace him. Big teams do that all the time. Small ones sell them and get cheap alternatives. And we did act as small team in the past 4 years or so.
