Meh don't bother Nyall these guys think that you'll win games immediately if you just play inexperienced youth. They don't understand it's a slow gradual process to decrease our huge wage budget, still be competitive (because without the Champions League we're fucked) and decrease the average age.
This Summer we decreased the wage budget by 40 million and decreased the average age of the side (math does not lie) if you haven't noticed (also with the likes of Rano and Juan becoming starters for us) and also we're well in the fight for a Champions League spot. Last season our problem was the gap between very old players and inexperienced players we cut that gap with the likes of Palacio, Cassano and Guaro. But let's keep on living in the bubble where every thing we are doing is wrong because if we start to play with Coutinho, Livaja, Duncan and Romano right now we'll get into the CL without even breaking a sweat.
Rocchi is here for just 6 months, we barely paid anything for him, he's experienced and he can score goals on the bench he is a better option than what we had with Livaja and now Livaja can go to Siena and develop without high pressure even though the relegation struggle they have there will be tough. This is just a quick fix solution in January, in June we didn't get anyone without looking ahead. Cassano and Palacio were needed due to our depleted attack and up front and plus we got Cassano basically for free and Palacio for a fair price considering the money you'd have to pay for someone like him on the market. Silvestre was a loan, and since it's not working out he'll probably leave now, Gargano also a loan and since he hasn't been that great I don't expect to keep him. The signings of Palacio and Cassano were not quick fixes getting into the Champions League is a necessity and to get to that spot you need quality players who can you are guaranteed that they can play well at this level.
So I don't know what team you're looking at because right now I think this team for its limited resources, for a Milito who must be exhausted being so depended upon, for a team that started its season before anyone in the league is doing pretty damn well and if anyone knew in June we'd be in this position most of us would sign with our pants down.
